Not entirely sure I'd qualify Confucianism as a religion, although Buddhism
is
on the list...

The Church of Unitology, PRAISE ALTMAN!Lol, I'm actually currently playing through Dead Space 2.
Issac may be a Hollywood Atheist, but I like him anyway. He's a genius badass, like Gordon Freeman.

If a religion requires you to blindly believe, they're doing it wrong ;)

I wonder why most of them seem to be doing it wrong, then? xD

Well, either the majority of people here are atheist, or atheist apparently like voicing what they believe in more then any other group of people.

On a related note, a buddy and I just went to a local Mexican restaurant for lunch and I swear to god Satan was talking over the music. #$%^ was weird.
Just as a little side note, I love it that you just capitalized Satan and left god as an improper noun. Brings a certain giddiness to my eternally damned heart. :)

Talking about religion i was just thinking. Why is there this seperation in the human race? This is what will lead us to the Apocalypse.I mean can you tell me why Christianity is seperated into 6 or more different ''Christianical'' religions.Humans just want to be seperated from one another.Yes i do understand that the 6 different religions are actually different from each other but still, people refuse to unite into one whole thing which is very bad.
On a side note:Its a fact that there are cults that worship the Lovecraftian gods.I wonder how is this religion called? And why is it not here either?

lol it's completely subconscious too, that's the sad part. Rationally speaking though, there are several religions with a single omniscient, omnipotent deity, so this may not be as much a name as an improper noun, whereas Satan is actually his name.
I've gotten into a number of arguments about that. When I do not capitalize the 'g' in god, it's not to be disrespectful to Christians; it's to remain respectful to the rules of grammar. :P If I refer to the Christian deity, I either say "the Christian god" (grammatically appropriate) or I use one of that deity's proper names (Yahweh, Jehovah, El, Adonai).
To me, the use of 'God' is disrespectful to non-Christians, because it contains an inherent presumption that theirs is the only possible one.

Yeah, I know the grammatical reasons for each, just seems funny to me. God is not always a specific term.

Same thing with other terms like "Mother," for example. "I went to go see mother," is not grammatically correct, because "mother" is used as a proper nouns in that sentence. "I went to see my mother," is correct, though.
The more you know... *twinkle*

Welp, color me redacted.
I had to go do a bit of research, and found that I got my rules flipped.
God should be capitalized when referring to a specific deity - roughly, any time that it would be grammatically correct in the sentence to replace the pronoun with the proper name.
So, "The Bible tells me that God is good," would be correct, because the sentence also makes sense when we say, "The Bible tells me that Jehovah is good."
However, "My God is an awesome God," is not correct; "My Jehovah is an awesome Jehovah," is nonsensical.
Of course, I found a number of articles that also question this particular grammatical rule because in a multicultural (multitheistic?) nation, it can lead to confusion. If you know for certain that you're addressing a Christian, then the first rule would apply correctly because they would assume you were speaking of that particular deity. However, what happens when you're speaking to a Hindi, or a Muslim? In that case, the sentence's meaning becomes questionable.
But that debate hasn't led to an official change of any grammatical rules, so I still admit my wrongness. :)
The rule of which I was really thinking was the capitalization of non-specific pronouns in relation to a deity - he/He and all that. "Jesus is God," is correct; "Jesus is God, and His works are great," is not.
