Something like half of Americans think Obama is Muslim.
Not that his religious beliefs matter, as long as he isn't flying planes into buildings.

That's also true...
My point is, while some theologies interpret religion carefully and progressively, there is a significant Fundamentalist presence in America that cannot just be swept under the rug. When we talk about how dangerous religion is, or how insulting religious people can be, we're mainly talking about the huge number of people like that, not the progressives. I still think you're wrong factually (and you still think I am), but I don't have a problem with you if you don't have a problem with me.

Meh. Most religions are deeper than that.
Hiiiiipsteeeeeer...
Hehehe, kidding, kidding.

No, but it shows the ignorance and intolerance that envelopes large portion of the American population. Because it's factually untrue, they wouldn't say that if they didn't have a bigoted hatred of Muslims.
And what if he was just a really bad pilot? Don't hate on bad pilots.

If we are talking about 9/11, they discovered explosives residue on the building, like it was all premeditated to happen like that.

You say they don't matter, but the only overtly non-Protestant president was JFK, who was Catholic. George W Bush's reelection campaign was partly based on gay marriage, which is obviously a religious matter.
Officially, no, it doesn't matter. Unofficially, yes, it does because too many people attempt to impose their religious beliefs on others. A CPO I once had a brief informal political discussion with said this: "Personally, I'm pro-life. Politically, I'm pro-choice. I shouldn't prevent someone from having one because it's against my beliefs. My moral compass isn't the only one there is." Unfortunately, too many people prefer to say "ABORTION AND GAY MARRIAGE ARE SINS AGAINST GOD AND THE COUNTRY SHOULD NOT ALLOW THEM." Caps to show irrationality.

Aye. Mitt Romney was pretty much knocked out of the race by Huckabee, because he was Mormon. All the Evangelical/Protestants wouldn't vote for him.

Okay, I was joking that 'flying planes into buildings' isn't necessarily terrorism, might just be some epic fail, but you went and made it a conspiracy theory...
We all know
This
is what really happened.

It will be a long time before an openly atheist or other non-Christian is elected. Too many people associate both religion with morality and different morals with immorality, despite the fact that there are plenty of moral atheists and immoral Christians.

NIST stated that it did not perform any test for the residue of explosive compounds of any kind in the debris.
How can they discover something they didn't test for? I hope to the Great Old Ones you were trying to be funny.

Lol, I love the "MMHKAY? MMHKAY?" the teacher of them does.
On topic of the off-topic, I read some
articles
saying this.

Funnily enough, I just finished watching
this
. All the tests they did there suggested that exactly what appeared to happen happened.

Am I right to think that when you say "exactly what appeared to happen happened" is what I'm thinking what appeared to happen happened? xD

This is true, unfortunately. Especially for the president. So much for separation of church and state...

Lies!
Oh /b/...
Yeah, what I originally meant by people believing that Obama is Muslim (despite he's claims otherwise) is that is obviously matters to people. And that it matters enough to them to think he's lying about something as minor as his religious views.

If all we can get are conservative Christians for President, then that will reflect in the laws that will be passed.
Depends on what Congress is like ;)
Also, I was merely nitpicking.

How is it not? I know those short, one line replies make you cool and everything (just ask Adamsm), but please, elaborate. :)

Separation of Church and State means that the Government will not back or discriminate against any religion. That does not mean that the American people cannot vote based on religious preferences.
It may be stupid, but it isn't covered under the Separation of Church and State.

When looking at what is written explicitly in the constitution, yes. But the idea behind it is more open ended, meaning church should be a factor in any political decision, be it by a politician, or a citizen.
The concept of separation of church and state refers to the distance in the relationship between organized religion and the nation state.

Presidents often list religion as reasons to act on something and how to act on it.
Freedom is on the march in this world. I believe everybody in the Middle East desires to live in freedom. I believe women in the Middle East want to live in a free society. I believe mothers and fathers want to raise their children in a free and peaceful world. I believe all these things, because freedom is not America's gift to the world, freedom is the almighty God's gift to each man and woman in this world.
