How to stop ninja killers?

How do you guys deal with ninja killers?
Today I need a primal fire for a recipe, and head out to BEM to start farming. 30 seconds later I noticed every one of the creatures I'm hitting turns grey. I'm a lock, and my dots take a couple of seconds before they start doing damage. So when I cast this dot, a hunter then shoots the mob, making it turn grey to me. And he's just following me around, cleaning up on all the work I'm doing. I asked him to stop, but he didn't seem very interested in playing nice. Being a pve "care bears" server, I can't even get my mates to log their opposite faction and come kill him (he and I were the same faction). His name gave it away, a gold farmer.
Strats I thought of was respeccing and getting shadowburn, allowing true instant damage, but then I'd have to keep monitoring shards etc much more, and I don't really wanna respec anyhow. Shadowbolts etc, same prob as casting dots, he'll tag it just as my SB hits it, and it will be mad at me anyhow. I also though if it's a bot, he might go away if I put myself on follow. He just started waving and challenging me to duels. I tried to banish his kills to get even when he was in combat, but obviously Blizz don't allow that with an innane error message when I try.
It just seems wrong that I have stop farming and go away, leaving him to make his money to sell online. Any one had any experince is dealing successfully with this? It just spoils the whole game for me dealing with a behaviour I'd never let my kids get away with.

Why don't you hit the mob with a rank 1 shadowbolt then?
or drain mana or siphon life?
will that not work?

Well, don't I feel like an idiot? Yeah, drain life should work. It's 1 second I believe before the mob is damaged. Rank 1 Shadow bolt wouldn't work, he could still tag the mob before me.

No, if your bolt would hit, he would not be able to tag it. And if you cast a rank 1 bolt and he shoots him he is getting the agro ? then just run to the next mob :)

slight problem. he can feign death and let you get the aggro anyways

If he FD's, shouldn't the mob be yours again ?

Wand it, or send your pet to hit it first. You can also use Immolate.

Try farming for a while as Felguard spec. If you pull with Intercept (in range - no Felguard preliminary running if you've got pull speed problems), that's instant damage on a mob. Assuming you can't farm without him pestering you, that's one mob every 30 seconds (Intercept cooldown).

Report it to a GM. You asked him to stop and he's breaking the ToS.
I'd love to think that this would solve it. It would at least make me feel better. But doing it over and over again would (at least in my book) constitute harassment.

The first time I remember this happening to my Warlock was grinding the Deadwood furblogs in northern Felwood for rep. Normally I would pull mobs with DoTs which, as you say, didn't do damage for the first couple of seconds or so. But that didn't stop some cheezy hunter from running up behind me (someone who clearly saw me go after the target tho officially it hasn't been tagged yet). Pulling with a shadowbolt or something didn't help because with greater range and slower overall initial attack, the hunter would still make the claim before I could.
This was the beginning of my hatred for hunters. I generalized them all as being selfish and inconsiderate. Hunters are also the ones that never say thank you when I randomly buff them when I am playing Druid or Paladin. Not that I expect it, but it seems odd that most other classes do say "thanks".

lol, I do that to gold farmers. I f see a hunter with a wierd name and whisper them. If they don't say anything, I wait for hunters mark, then I intercept and bloodthirst the mob, then the hunter gets a couple shots off. It saves me time and slows down the farmer. 2 good things at once. It works for a while until they realize I am going to keep doing it. Then I kill on my own again.

well this is how i figure its a bot or a gold farmer dude... start casing a dot or something on a nearby elite or rare spawn and if he tags it, stop casting and let him die... hehe
but if its a farmer dude, well there are other places with fire elementals right?

"you look like a gold farmer, and if you do not respond in legibal english, I will pull this whole place onto you and then report you for breaking the ToS"
ROFLAMO
legibal >.<
maybe it was a typo on the forums but it would be funny if that's how you spelt it to the farmer
