The only incident where the Horde have helped me, besides the exact same one that the original poster described, was the quest where you get to choose between the Oracles and the Frenzyheart. I saw a couple of Hordies (a Paladin, and a resto Druid, if I remember properly) killing the Lich, and decided to help them out. I fully expected them to leave and never look back, but to my surprise, they decided to stick around and help me. It's definetly refreshing seeing that there are good people on both factions.

I've had several times where an Ally helped me, and vice-versa.
The two latest were:
Two of us (a mage and a DK) were trying to kill Archbishop Landgren for
Second Chances
. We were having a devil of a time when an NE Druid and NE WAR showed up. They jumped in in the middle of the fight and helped us off him. We stuck around and helped them. My partner got on her second account and created an alliance toon to talk to them. We coordinated our actions and then did the follow up quest
The Admiral Recealed
.
Then, last night I was 5 quests away from the Loremanster of Northrend achieviement and all I had left was the Arena thing in Icecrown.
I had a Mage (me again), DK and Ret Pally. Mid-way through the second or third fight a NE DK showed up and started helping us. After I was done, we all stuck around and helped him do the fights.
It's always gratifying to see people in game who arn't all helpful, no matter what side they chose.

I roll on a PvE server. I have a few toons on PvP servers, but it's too hard when 70 rogues want to flex their epeen in redrige.... so - i stayed on the PvE server - Ally side.
Ring of blood, the Trial of blood thing in Northrend, and even the big deamon you have to kill in HFP - I always help out hordies that are doing it. I have been helped by them Plenty - and vica verca. I really think that being on a PvE server prevents a lot of "Built up" aggression to the other faction, because most times you can just ignore them... Dieing is a pain in the butt either from players or from mobs - so why unleash that on other players? That's why i enjoy BG's as well - good, clean, healthy, FRUSTRATING, competition. =)
