For a tank, I'd say 10 man geared and know your stuff.
Healer, similar...a couple of the Champion combinations can be quite taxing (rogue and shaman anyone?)
For dps, look to bring at least 2k constant dps, and you should be fine.
My druid was up until recently a resto and dps/tank hybrid dual spec, in mostly 200 gear, with some sprinklings of 25 man and naxx 10, and managed all 3 roles quite comfortably.

DPS is key here, in many ways- you can pull low DPS through, but it puts a lot more strain on the healer and the tank, especially in the first fight.
The faster you can take out the first champion, the better chance you have of not wiping.
On the other hand, I've pulled through DPS doing under 800... And will never group with them again.
I've also gotten through it with new-to-heroic healers and 23khp tanks that drop like stones.
If you want to not be pulled through it, then you want to be geared like you would for a 10 man instance, imo.

3 buddies and I just hit 80 a week or two ago and have successfully 4-manned the first two bosses in H ToC several times. Honestly if you know what you're doing, the first two are pushovers. With a 5th man I'm sure we could have easily finished off the last boss.

Interesting, in my experience the last boss is by far the easiest.
You just AE the ghouls down before they explode, and group around him in the last phase.
Avoiding 3 AEing bosses at the same time was a lot harder on the healer, imo.

Faar: The Hammer of the Righteous need not hit
anybody
if people are on the ball removing debuffs. The Hammer of the Righteous actually hits Eadric if his target is not stunned (you catch it and throw it at him), saving you damage and damaging him!. Hammer of Justice always comes before Hammer of Righteousness, stunning the target. If you are stunned, you cannot throw it back. Hammer of Justice is a magic debuff, thus dispellable.
But one thing to watch out for...if you have a DPS class which can dispel magic? Make sure they watch your healer! Your priest, for instance, can't dispel Hammer of Justice on herself if she's stunned, and Hammer of Righteousness hits a healer hard.
I hate that. Here I am dispelling away on everyone else when all of a sudden it's on me. And the ret pally DPSes away >.> It hasn't killed me yet, but it's come very close.

My DK has done fine, and he's not that geared. I'd say that he's ready for 10-mans, but hasn't stepped foot in one yet. If you want to see him, his profile's bookmarked in my profiles. 1.3k DPS on most fights (I don't count the first, since the values are bloated from from the jousting) and 2.5k on Black Knight (no clue why, but I always top the charts on him and him alone). It helps to do it with a group of friends who are all on vent.

A lot of people seem to be posting about how they did it in 'regular groups', groups of friends- I gather the OP is looking to go at it as a PuG, and performance usually needs to be inflated there- you can't count on people working together and not making mistakes.

you can't count on
people working together and not making mistakes.
Because you can't count on anything, your outcome will be largely based on luck. So the best we can give him is what is possible.

I like the idea of bringing two healers or one healer and one dps/healer hybrid. If two dps can do at least 5k between them and the tank has 30k health, then it should be fine.

I'm sorry, did you just suggest someone be in
raid
gear to do a
heroic
instance?
The hardest 5 man heroic so far? That drops loot equivalent to ulduar 10 gear? Yes, to be honest.
Similar to Magistar's Terrace ideally needing people in at least t4 equivalent gear to make it a smooth run.
I'm sure it could be done in heroic gear. But I'm not sure I'd like to try it unless the dps and healer are well geared.

And I'm saying that you are estimating the lowest gear he can do it with successfully, not what he should have to stand a consistently decent chance, allowing for PuGs.
