Some questions -
Have you played both?
If you have, do you have a preference?
For those who haven't, is it due to a strong preference toward your side?
Since my account has been banned from the official forums, but I am bored and weak willed, I have considered getting a new one. I played a tauren druid and I hate the way our forms look, and I also kind of prefer the style of alliance areas. Also, shadowmeld > warstomp.
However, I just couldn't see myself ever using /y FOR THE ALLIANCE like I have /y FOR THE HORDE. It's just not the same! I am not sure I would make it to 80 on an alliance character without feeling like I've betrayed the Horde. As dumb as it sounds, and as !@#$ed off as I get about WoW, I have to admit it's kind of impressive that a game has me actually emotionally attached to one faction.
Or... maybe the alliance just needs to rename their faction to something less boring.

Horde all the way.
I've been playing Horde since the day I got the game. Sure, I tried Alliance. I leveled a Dwarf Paladin to like, 5 and hated it. There was just something not right about it. Of course, this was after leveling an Undead Warlock to 40 something. Maybe I was just too used to the Horde side or I was sick of constantly fighting Alliance while questing, (no, that's not a QQ, I picked a PvP server and I love it) and it made me dislike the entire faction. I now have multiple 80s, all Horde. That Dwarf was the most Alliance experience i've ever had. I've seen inside Iron Forge and all their major cities of course, what with all the For The Horde raids i've done across all my characters. Iron Forge is an extremely cool city. In fact, too cool for the Alliance. It should be a Horde city, ha, i'm obviously joking. It is a cool city though for sure. The best thing about the Alliance if you ask me.
I just despise Gnomes and Dreanei. Especially Gnomes. It seems as if more little kids play Alliance, too. Which makes it annoying trying to deal with Trade Chat or when you're in an instance group full of little, immature kids.
Plus, I have played Horde so long, I hate Alliance because of how much PvP/Ganking/Defending myself while questing. I am also impressed with how much a game has made me stick strictly to one team. It's not really Blizzard's doing though. I have to thank the Alliance players. It's the players on each faction that make you either love or hate that particular faction. Blizzard gets credit for implementing the PvP system and world PvP system (ganking) I just wish we could talk trash to those you gank. =)
Besides, For The Horde sounds SOOOOO much better than For The Alliance. In fact, this is the first i've heard of For The Alliance. I never paid attention to their battlecry/catch phrase, never had to. I always thought it'd be something catchier. For The Horde fits. For The Alliance just sounds like some cheep ripoff. It seems almost as if Blizzard created the Horde lingo first, then decided it was easier to just make Alliance the same and not give them their own battlecry.
Hmmmp.
Oh well, Horde pwns Alliance in ever aspect of the game.
End of stroy.
^-^

Sigh... another one of those "Horde rulez" replies.
I‘ve played Alliance from the start, and I would agree that it would feel weird to play Horde, or shout out Horde war chant, however, I wouldn't preach about which side is better, or which side dominates. Each has their own respective lore, and backgrounds, there is no "better" side.
Choose one which suits yourself. I would agree with most people here feeling that Horde are beasts and not "civilised“, but choose the side you find yourself enjoying, and please don't go insulting others about Alliance scums, or Alliance is crap... blah blah. Lots of Ally players say the same about the Horde, but it's hardly recreational to throw faction abuse at each other.

Ok... this will be my rant and story.
I started back in 'o6 on Alliance PVE server as a Dwarf rogue (Anvilmar). I was one of the first to 60, as such I knew nothing of raiding until right before I quit and even then there were only a handful of 60's on the server. When I quit I was farming Pyromancer in BRD for
Fiery Enchant
and selling it for 150g a pop... (a ton of gold back in the day). I quit and never thought about going back due to the extreme boredom and solo play-style I experienced on an MMO.
TBC came out and my old friends wanted to start playing again so I said I'd give it another go. This time they wanted to play Belfs (of course they would). So we all rolled Horde on PVP server (Firetree), where I rolled an Orc Hunter. I experienced a completely new type of game play. It was not boring it was exciting! Pvp around every corner! I could kill and be killed, camp and be camped. Don't get me wrong it was frustrating at times, but overall I was thankful for every one of the times the alliance rocked my hunter and every time I would initiate combat my heart would thud faster and pound harder! Open up with a steady shot, send pet in, BRK, concuss, sting, arcane shot. steady, steady, steady. Just thinking about it gets me worked up.
I digress. On the alliance side you have young kids, very young kids. They don't want to play 'icky-sicky horde nasty bad characters'. In BG's you have 24 chiefs and 1 indian where as on the Horde side you have 1 guy leading and people listen to what they need to do, the team work on the two sides is the grandest contrast. The alliance quests are MUCH simpler, for those that beg the differ bite me, I've taken Horde and Alli from 0-60+ multiple times and I can tell you Alli have it easier, but the people that play Horde don't care about that because the main core of horde characters are mature and generally older characters. I wish Blizzard would release the data on average age of Horde vs. Alliance. Alliance are carebears esp on PVE servers with the exception of a handful. I host so much disdain for them it sickens me.
The horde-side AH is MUCH more stable, it doesn't fluctuate nearly as much and things are priced much more soundly. You are on a side that is much more mature and knows h2p. The racials on Horde side are better, and there is a certain underlying prestige I take in knowing that I am a member of the Horde. Any 12 year old can be an Alliance care bear being spoon fed by Blizzard; it takes a real gamer to play Horde, at least that's who you will find.
Unfortunately I took a break after being bored again on my Hunter (epic mount/gearz/etc.) my friends that quit BC and left me alone again came back so I came back. They had a friend with an 80 on an Alliance PVE server and my skin crawled. But my buddy is getting married soon so I wanted to spend as much time in/out of game with him as possible before he's got that ol'chain and ball around him for good. I have a 45 Gnome lock on Durotan. It irks me every time I login and see his God awful gnome mohawk and my Human banker, 'Bigsack'. It hurts... it really does. I was passing through IF's forlorn cavern for lock training and saw a Tauren warrior fishing with people passing him by left and right paying him no mind. It made me so sick. I spammed local defenese and trade for 10 mins. I was called a n00b, told to reroll, go f myself, etc. just bs 12 year olds type when mommy isn't over their shoulder. It took 10 mins before a dwarf pali came and got his %^&* rocked. I ran up to the Tauren, /cheer /sigh /hug /bye. God I miss my Horde bretheren.
In short: Horde > Alliance

To the OP:
You're a Tauren Druid on the realm Mannoroth aren't you?
Because if so, then you're the guy named Graydust on my realm that has macros to QQ about PvP.
You might possibly be the biggest $%^&*!bag in all of wow.
If you really are the same Graydust i'm talking about, then you're a complete pussy.
It's just a game, why set macros to spam in trade about how badly you suck at PvP?
And yes, I play a paladin, QQ some more.

I've played both sides. Extensively. I've moved back to Horde side for the time being, and I readily admit that I'm slightly more sympathetic to this side. It's very easy to take on this whole underdog mentality and want to fight the big, bad Alliance because
there are so many of you
.
But you know what? Both sides are the same. Yep. I said it. I hate this whole, "Alliance are all kids!" thing. It's a stereotype and simply not true. Every weiner that wants to be a pvp god goes over to the Horde at some point because that's the, "good side." So yeah, we've got our share too.
Just pick whatever side appeals to you. You'll find cool people and obnoxious kids on both sides.

I've played on both sides, on PvE, PvP and RP servers and I must say I like the Horde better.
The alliance is amazing to play on as well, no doubt, but I just prefer the horde.
Alliance:
Pros
-Better constructed cities. Most of the cities have one way in, and one way out.
-Better constructed starting zones (excluding Eversong Woods)
-HOGGER!
-Cities are better connected to each other.
Cons
-The lore-rich quest lines seem to have abrupt and unsatisfying endings.
-Varian Wyrnn
Horde:
Pros
-AMAZING lore, for all the races. Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Forsaken and even Blood Elves have well structured lore.
-Eversong Woods. There is no other starting zone in the game as "smooth" as this one. The layout is amazing, the music is great and the progression is perfect for new characters and rerolling characters alike.
-SAURFANG!
Cons
-HORRIBLE City structuring. Undercity is a labyrinth, and even once you learn where everything is you have to run a long ways to get anywhere... Not to mention trying to talk to all your trainers when leveling. Also, Horde cities are a CAKEWALK to infiltrate and attack. EVERY city except for Silvermoon has Two entrances!
-Not as many lore-driven quest chains. While the ones that were implemented usually have satisfying endings, there simply aren't as many of them.

AMG! Undercity is teh coolest capital ever in this game! It took me like 10-15 mins to completely learn the locations. It's a plus!

God, you seriously suck.
How old are you?
In all of my years of WoW, i've never encountered someone who actually $%^&*es that terribly bad about PvP.
Quit WoW if you hate it that bad.
