A holy paladin MUST always stack agility. It is the key stat. If you don't, it = fail. Stack agility. You heard it here first.
Noob, agility is outdated. What you really need, and I mean really need, is shield rating. You have a shield, you need to max out it's use so that you block everything and stay alive to heal your Tank.

Start taking upgrades in ilvl instead of just looking at the value in Intellect if you're concerned about your gear.
Did you look at his spell usage? Look ingame for a solution. This seems like a different playstyle than yours, and unless every heal you had was 100% effective, with no overhealing, how can his HPS matter? Did he let his tank die? Did he go OOM?
Don't get worked up over your position on the healing meters. Just get a QuickHealth addon and hope that it's just your reaction time.

I bet the OP had higher overhealing or fewer casts done.
More Haste = first to land healing on the target.

Generally
HPS doesn't matter and is a more convoluted figure than DPS. What matters is if you can keep your tank/group alive, if you find that you fail at this then you're a fail healer, period. If you want to look at an assessment of your healing efficiency, look at healing done. This is the actual amount of hit points you healed. If you're low on this you're either spamming HL and getting crazy overheals or you're too slow and other healers are sniping your heals (which, spamming HL will also do to you). A lot depends on your personal play-style and gearing (obviously). Timing is really important when you don't have a million haste rating. Learn to read who's taking damage and watch the target for long cast-time, big hitting attacks. Also, keeping our FoL HoT up is huge and having
two pieces of T8 gear
is nice for when you crit HS.
Personally
Here
is my Armory and I use
this spec
. Depending on the raid group/buffs, I frequently get 6-7k+ FoL crits, 18-20k HL crits and 9k holy shock crits. My haste isn't where I'd like it to be, but with
JotP
I'm usually at about a 1s FoL. I have a few nicer pieces, but overall I'm not that amazingly geared (esp my rings/trinkets) and I have no trouble in any fight anymore.

OP obviously has never played a discipline priest - we're allllways at the bottom of healing done, because half of what we do isn't tracked by recount unless you use the mod.
If no one you're in charge of keeping alive is dying, then who cares what your hps/hpm is.

Here's my WoW-Heroes
http://wow-heroes.com/index.php?zone=us&server=Area+52&name=Tator
(Make sure to go to my first holy spec (One with the highest gear score.) The one I'm currently in is my new PvP spec I'm trying out.)
I'm a FoL spammer, as is obvious by my mana pool.
I generally top the healing charts, unless we're in a raid damage-intensive fight.
To be honest, it all really counts on your favorite playstyle.
I've been out-healed by HL spammers before. I've outhealed HL spammers 50% to 30% before.
However, if you're going to go FoL, you aren't going to stack intellect. You'll want spell power and crit. Critting is one of your best stats for flash of light, especially with sacred shield on the target, because you get that increased HoT.
Haste is very nice for FoL as well. Currently I don't stack haste because of my trinket, but once I get enough haste on my gear that trink is going bye-bye.
Hope I helped!

the most importante things a healer needs to do during a fight is keep the tank alive and him self alive.
also this guy prob used DP and holy light non stop. not realy a smart thing to do though.
