hmmm, disc is more gear forgiving at times, but once you get to the gear you need, holy can have the less stressful "not relying on crit averages" way of going...

I'd recommend disc for one reason and one reason only: Learn your class. I personally believe it is extremely important to know both sides of healing, as well as shadow. Once you have a basic understanding of everything, you should then choose whatever you most enjoy and perfect it.
And don't worry about "big heals" as disc, you can throw off shields/heals so rapidly that giant numbers don't matter. With BT, we have a very predictable 25% haste buff to use in conjuncture with PoH.

I myself like to more likely play disc over holy. The only thing I hate in playing disc is that usually ppl underestimates the importance of disc, as we wont usually shine on top of the healing done meter. Our job is to deliver some fast healing when its needed the most, as the tank suddenly falls to 10-20%, throw in bubble and penance to keep tank alive until other healers like paladins can deliver their big heals in time. As for 5-man instances, I've never had any problems keeping the group alive, + when u first reach the lvl 80, disc forgives a bit for the crappy leveling gear.

apples and oranges... For leveling disco is probably slightly better because your SP will be slightly higher and your longevity may be better. Otherwise... apples and oranges.

But holy makes you feel superior as you normally come top on the healing metres... Feeling superior is important :)
In many ways I think holy takes more skill to play - as not running out of mana with holy can be a problem even with pretty good gear.
No, it flexes your e-peen. I hate healing charts more than anything else on recount. :|
A well played holy healer can do a lot to keep a raid alive, but I've never seen a decent holy healer able to keep the raid + the tank alive. A well played disc can keep both alive (albeit, the raid will eventually start getting picked off) on the other hand. This is from a disc healer who's had to do both. (Solo healing Hodir? Not fun. But doable. I lost a DPS out of the 7, but there's only so much you can do from 50%-1%)

Interesting hybrid build, Personally I think I try to look at the numbers a bit too much when I look through the hybrids because I see that they are about 1 or 2 tiers away from the REALLY fun spells (rapture, serendipity)....but if you can really get crit happy, I can see how this could work.....

You don't give Holy enough credit for end-game content. Discipline is definitely miles easier to heal and level as in the grind to 80, but once you're geared, things can be quite different.
Holy is very capable of solo healing numerous Ulduar10 fights with no one dying.
Razorscale: EZ Mode all around...
Kologarn: You don't really need to be quick on raid heals since Oblivion is really the only thing that hurts your raid, and it occurs just once every now and then. So save Serendipity to heal the tank and grasped people, and have someone offheal you if you are ever grabbed.
Hodir: Pretty simple as Holy, but it requires some good positioning and awareness of your surroundings. Just focus Flash Heals and 3xSerendipity Greater Heals on the tank, and heal your raid with Circle of Heals and bounced ProMs. During Frozen Blows, just alternate between healing the tank and Prayer of Healing on the raid. Be sure to stand on the light spots for the super fast cast time or people will die. Don't forget about Divine Hymn and Guardian Spirit. With 8 DPS, Hodir should be going down pretty quick.
Auriaya: You may want to use GS in the beginning if your tanks are terrible at pulling. Prayer of Mending and Circle of Healing should be fine for raid heals until Sonic Screeches. Be sure NOT to get interrupted, or you will possible wipe. Auriaya does cancel her Sonic casts as well, so be sure to especially watch for this and not get surprise-spell locked. Prayer of Healing works just perfect for the raid damage it inflicts.
I believe nearly the entire instance of Naxx10 is soloable as any class and spec. You just need off-healers for fights like 4H and Gothik.

Basically from experience as a holy priest healer, all i can say is that u have all the things u need to keep a 5 man alive while saving enough mana for emergencies, the only reason u will lose all that mana is if u have bad tank or a big AOE boss suck as H HOL (sometimes people dont know they have to run :( ).
Now on raids i hear its easier for u to spam tank and still keep group alive while saving all that mana u need for emergencies, as a disc healer.
Maybe next week i may turn disc just to test it out.
