It's not really that hard if you just read the tooltips.
SS and Bacon should be used as the tank starts running in for the pull (DUUUUUUUUH).
Now here is where it gets tricky...
If you need a small heal ~4-5k you use FoL, why? Cause it heals for 40-50k.
If you need a big heal ~10-15k you use HL, why? Cause it heals for 1-2k.
If you need an instant heal follow by a small/big heal ~7-8k on one target and ~4-5k on another or ~17-22k on one target you use HS+FoL/HL respectively, why? cause HS damages the target for 1.5-2.5k
I hope this helps you. The numbers i used might not be right for you but they're pretty accurate to the general public.

There's no set rotation for Holy Paladins. But if you're confused, check my
extremely helpful thread
, which there is a link to in the
read before posting
thread, for advice on when to use which spell.

Ignore the trolling parts of svrive's post:
If you need a small heal ~4-5k you use FoL
If you need a big heal ~10-15k you use HL
Failtroll is fail

Let me be the third to lick Svirve's arse by informing you having enough self esteem to not answer seriously on this topic does not make him any more of a troll than stating the obvious makes you smart.
To be fair, you're not the third, maybe 103d ;p
P.S. I just had to put that in my sig ;p

Well i was helpful just that i coupled it with some arrogance.
If you would read my first post and actually think of what i posted you'll know to disregard parts like If you need a small heal ~4-5k you use FoL, why?
Cause it heals for 40-50k.
And stop to think that since i recommend FoL for a 4-5k heal it's most probably going to heal for an amount similiar to that.
I did also advice him to read the tooltips which would further encourage anyone reading to realise that a FoL wont heal for 40-50k but it will heal for 4-5k which is what i recommended it for.
It's a matter of reading between the lines and grasping the post as a whole not just on a line-to-line basis.
I'll never ask anyone to accept something just because "svirve said so" but rather because i do my research and i'm fairly good at doing it as well. And sure i'm an arrogant son of a ^&*!@, i already know that, but that doesn't miscredit the fact that i
mostly
couple it with good advice/strong arguments.

I find it amusing that I am accused of trolling simply because I stated that svirve did indeed post something that is trolling, or at least useless, misleading and unhelpful.
I did extract svirve's useful information from his post, and gave him credit for that information.
The OP stated that: Now while I have read the stickies on holy pallies I haven't really found out how to use an effective (whats the word?) rotation for healing.
Which is why I stated the obvious and said healing has no rotation. I gave him/her reasonable general advise. Also the OP asked for addon advise, I gave my opinion and mentioned addons that were acceptable.
How dare I do anything other than praise everything that svirve types out and take it as gospel.
Generally, svirve is helpful. In this instance, he was not.
You said the exact same thing he did, but with less numbers. Thus if his post is trolling, so is yours. QED
And don't get used to this svirve ;)

Well met, and thank you for reading.
I am a lvl 80 Tankadin who is going to subspec into holy. Now while I have read the stickies on holy pallies I haven't really found out how to use an effective (whats the word?) rotation for healing.
Healing has no rotation, except for the occasional Divine Favor -> Holy Shock -> Flash of Light/Holy Light.
I am totally new to healing since I have lvl'ed Prot since lvl 10 (althought I think I remember healing through Wailing Caverns) and was wondering if there are spells that I should try to cast before others and when to use the talents for the insta casts.
Use Sacred Shield and Beacon of Light on the tank, preferably on the run up to the pull. Ensure to keep these buffs on him at all times. For the instant casts, use them while raid healing. Holy Shock a raid member, instant Flash of Light the next, etc etc. Remember that all of your heals on ANYONE in the raid within 60 yards of your tank, will duplicate to the tank. So raid healing is something you should be doing quite a lot of, even if you're not the best at it.I know that every situation is going be different, but I'm sure there is a general order that you start off with and work from there. So please, if you would, lend a newb healer a hand and pass on some of your knowledge.
Another thing to ask, should I get any add-ons for healing?
Thank you in advance,
Pray
Some basics: Stack intellect. Other than Intellect, Haste>Spellpower/mp5
or
crit, or Haste/Mp5/crit/spell power if you have mana problems. Beacon the tank, spam the raid, keep FoL HoT rolling on a tank, use Flash of Light or Holy Shock whilst movign in mobility fights, use Seal of Wisdom and melee between casts to regen mana.
As for addons.. Xperl is all I need. Your milage may vary.

Here is our rotation;
beacon every 60s (90s with the glyph)
judge every 60s (20s if using seal of wisdom)
sacred shield every 30s (45/60s with the talent)
fol the target with sacred shield every 12s
.. the time in between those abilities do whatever the hell you need to do to keep players alive, in other words spam holy light and bubble sac heavy raid damage.

judge every 60s (
20s
as often as you safely can if using seal of wisdom)
Fixed.

You should be judging every 10 sec (8 sec if you talented it for some odd reason) if you can do it without leaving someone short on healing.
You can get as much as 3.7k mana (on a 20k mana pool) from a single judgement assuming you're using SoW, and JoW is already on the target.
