Hit Rating Revisited...Again

Greetings,
As upgrades continue to sit in the bank, I thought I'd take a quick poll of the community:
What is your current hit rating?
What do YOU consider the minimum acceptable Hit Rating to raid with?
I generally like to keep my Hit capped, but as more pieces become available without Hit on them I'm actually costing myself DPS keeping it capped according to the spreadsheet. I know several hunters who frequent here are already running below the cap, what is your practical experience with it?
Thanks!

Well i am a NE hunter and i always try to keep my HR not less than 7.20% but this is due to the fact that i always raid with Dranei and the give me the +1% hit i need.

I keep my hit rating at 8%. Actual DPS is zero if you miss.
There is probably a break-even point after which the total expected damage done in a fight is greater with higher (potential) DPS and a miss chance. For example with hit cap you do 2000 damage per attack and the fight lasts for 5 attacks you do a total of 10.000 damage. If you take gear which gives you a 1% chance to miss and 3000 dps, the following may happen: 4 hits and 1 miss for 12.000 damage. Better. However you may also have 3 hits and 2 misses for only 9.000 damage. With a one percent chance to miss you may consider your expected damage to be 12.000, however the actual damage can be 9.000 or lower.
(the above is a simplified version of (fictional) reality to demonstrate a point).

Greetings,
Thanks for all the responses, it's interesting to see where people are coming from. I am in fact a Horde Hunter, and I do have gear that would increase my overall dps at the loss of hit rating. As I mentioned I like to keep it capped for peace of mind, but I do understand there might be a "tipping point" so to speak where I am costing myself dps in the long run by being stubborn about Hit.
The fact tht EJ is mentioned is actually what started me on this question a few weeks back. Their dps spreadsheet says the overall damage gain is worth it. I understand the math behind a 100% chance to hit and say a 98% chance to hit. There's even a nice post which says don't worry about hit to the point where you lose dps (
http://elitistjerks.com/f74/t37714-hit_rating/
)...but man I have a hard time losing hit.
I guess I was hoping for a bunch of posts saying I'm not capped and I do a bahjillion dps anyway and maybe shift my point of view. At any rate, I appreciate everyone's feedback I'll keep tossing it over in my mind.
Thanks!

I've never liked relying on a Draenei to get hit rating. Even if you have one in your party, it's very easy to get out of the 30 yard range.

I love being a Draenei for that very reason.
