In this post I'll be attempting to write out the dialogue for the
Dark Ranger
Quest chains on this page. Please give feedback.
Note: for clarrification on what I meant by "Because the Forsaken share Nathanos as their master as well as one of the primary quest givers, their quest dialouge will be slightly different" this questline will be from a Forsaken players point of view.
Reaching Your Betters (Start: Summons Scroll, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Talk with Nathanos Blightcaller.
Start: To <name>, <race> of <race's faction>. We, the council of the Dark Quiver, have taken note of your capabilities and have decided to interview you for possible entry into our society. It is one of power and prestige and influence - not that you would be aware of it, we keep our existance hidden for the most part. Obviously we are not at liberty to discuss our matters on such a public form of communication, so we ask that you find the time to pay us a visit. Please report to the Shadowed Spire in Trisfal Grove. You will find the grove in the western portion of the Trisfal Glades. Do not make us wait. -*Signed* The Council of Shadows.
Progress: Yes? I don't know how you managed to gain entry into this Spire, but you had better not be wasting my time!
Finish: Ah, the prospect. *Nathanos looks you over* Hmm, I must say, <name> when I was first heard of you I had my doubts, the other masters only barely were able to convince me to invite you for interviewing. But, now that I get a good look at you, my opinion remains unchanged.
Interview with the Blightcaller (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Inform Nathanos of why you should be allowed into the Dark Quiver.
Start: So, <name> are you ready to began your interview?
Progress(Discussion):
Nathanos: So, <name>, why do you think you have a place in the Dark Quiver.
You: Blightcaller, I am skilled in both tracking and killing, as well as having a great ammount of skill with a bow.
Nathanos: Is that so? Anyone can track, kill, and shoot a bow, but it takes great skill - skill that few posses - to do such things as us Dark Rangers do.
You: I assure you, Bligthcaller, I am that skilled.
Nathanos: *Nathanos laughs* Many more besides you have said the same thing, worm. They all failed.
You: I'm sure they did. I, however, will succeed.
Nathanos: We shall see, we shall see...
Finish: While your skills are still in question, you dedication to this cause is not. Welcome to the Dark Quiver, <name>. *Nathanos salutes you.*
Meet Your Mentor (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Talk with Nathanos Blightcaller.
Start: As I said, <name>; welcome to the Dark Quiver. Speak with me again when you are ready to proceed with your training.
Progress: Are you ready, then?
Finish: Good, very good. *Nathanos laughs* I have the perfect training regimen for you, <name>. But, first, their is one thing you must do. A... ritual, of sorts.
A New Path (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: High Priest Maldenis) Obj: Go to the Chapel of the Forgotten Shadow and speak with High Priest Maldenis.
Start: We Dark Rangers, no matter what we belived in during our time among the others of our race, all belive in one thing: The Forgotten Shadow. Ah, I can see it in your eyes, you are having doubts, second thoughts. It's too late for those now, you are one of us, or you will be. Go to the Chapel of Forgotten Shadow, just north of this spire. High Priest Maldenis awaits your arrival. And, <name>, if you didn't realize it yet those circle patterns on the floor are teleportation devices. Use them and save yourself some trouble - provided you have the brain capacity to do so.
Progress: Are you the new recruit?
Finish: Ah, Nathanos sent you, then you are who I thought you were. *Maldenis smirks* Allow me to reveal to you your furture!
Cleanse Your Soul of All that is Pure! (Start: High Priest Maldenis, End, High Priest Maldenis) Obj: Use the Darkfire Candle at the Alter of Forgotten Shadows to tear your spirit from you. Subjugate it.
Start: All Dark Rangers must go through the ritual you are about to endure. But let me explain what it is your doing. Every creature, even Forsaken, has two halves: one that embodies your hate, rage, and wish to slaughter, and another that tries to keep you from indulging in such things. *Maldenis shakes his head* It is only the first of those two we need, the other holds us back. Take this candle and light it on the alter, that will draw your "better half" from your body. Show it what path now dominates your destiny!
Progress: Feel free to start whenever...
("Your Better Half" will say this upon spawning: your Better Half: Don't do this! You know it's not right!)
Finish: Perfect... PERFECT! *Maldenis breaks into a peal of maniacal laughter* You are truely one of us now, <name>. There is no turning back. But be pleased with your decision, it was the right one.
Pleasing Results (Start: High Priest Maldenis, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Report you success to your mentor.
Start: You've done well, <name>, but even the weakest of Dark Rangers are able to break their lighter sides like so. Yes, it will take more then this to prove yourself capable as a Ranger. Return to Nathanos now, there's nothing more for you to do here.
Progress: Have you done what I sent you to do?
Finish: *Nathanos looks you in the eyes* Yes, you did complete the ritual. *The Blightcaller claps slowly* You are truely one of us now <brother/sister>.
Your Weapon of choice (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Bring your master back the components for your Ranger Bow.
Start: Before you go any further down your path, though, you must learn of the Dark Ranger's favored weapon: the bow. Many races and different followings also use bows, but none quite like us. Bring me arrows and a quiver from the armory across from the spire, a shaft from the floor below, and find someone to loan you a string. Quickly. *Nathanos snaps his fingers for emphisis*
Progress: That bow will be your bow. There are many like it but... bah, you get the idea.
Finish: Ah, good. Now, for that deeper explanation I promised. But, first, put your bow together! Now!
Infusion (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Imbue your Dark Ranger Initiate's Bow with a Soul of your choice.
Start: Now where was I... Oh yes; our bows are unique among other classes because we don't simply use them. No, we give them life! We infuse our bows with the essence of souls that we've captured through our... killing sprees, one would call them. Take your bow to one of the Shadow Refiners on the floor below. Infuse it with a soul of your choice, and then return to me.
Progress: You bow has no life yet, initiate!
Finish: Excellent, and a decent choice of soul at that, I sense little weakness in it. You have taken yet another step on your journey, <name>. But the easy tasks are finished!
Go Train, Newbie! (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Ranger Trainer Lyana) Obj: Speak with Ranger Trainer Lyana.
Start: Now you began the more physical exercises, <name>. I, however, am done with you, for now. Report to Ranger Trainer Lyana. You'll find her back on the ground, near the target dummies just to the south of the Spire.
Progress: Speak your peace!
Finish: Another one? Seems like there's been a boom in trainees lately. We're barely able to keep up with the ones there are. *Lyana glares at you* Don't step out of line.
A Ranger and Her Horse (Start: Ranger Trainer Lyana, End: Ranger Trainer Lyana) Obj: Find the Dark Ranger that stole Lyana's Horse, make them suffer, and then return to Ranger Lyana with it.
Start: Why am I so irritable, you ask? I'll tell you why! One of those cowardly little initiates showed up just today and stole my horse, Shadowhoof! I took part in the campaign against the Scourge! I deserve more respect! So what if I too caught up in a few battles to allow some random heros to talk to me? So what? *Lyana pauses for a moment to take a deep breath* I'll tell you what, <name>, if you can get my horse back, I'll let you have some of my armor. Oh, and I'll teach you how to summon your own horse, too.
Progress: I don't see a horse, <name>.
(The Dark Ranger with the Horse: Brk the Belligerent)
Finish: Oh Shadowhoof, I've missed you so much! *Lyana hugs Shadowhoof* Thank you so much <name>! *Lyana regains her composure* Anyway, here's your reward, and your mentoring, as I promised.
Can you hit a bird? Flying? (Start: Ranger Trainer Lyana, End: Ranger Trainer Lyana) Obj: Shoot down 10 Plagued Falcons.
Start: Look, initiate, here no one cares about your past or how good you were with a sword or axe. As long as your under my watch, only one things matters: can you shoot a bow? Go out into the field and shoot down 10 Plagued Falcons. And yes, they will attack you. *Lyana smirks*
Progress: Still in one piece? Have you even gone out to the field yet?
Finish: Not bad. But I'm not done with you yet.
Scream, Aim, and Fire! (Start: Ranger Trainer Lyana, End: Ranger Trainer Lyana) Obj: Use your Silencing Wail ability to silence the Alliance Caster and then kill him.
Start: Not everything we do revolves around shooting things with an arrow. Contrary to what most people belive, we're not just hunters without a pet. Many of our spells work on the basis of subtlety, one such example are our Whispers. Other times we turn to our more specter-related powers, such as our Wails and Screams. *Lyana grins* I want you to put both to good use. We have some captured Alliance Casters chained up around here, pick one and kill it. But I'm not just going to let you wail away on it and it on you, no, you have to silence it by using a Whisper on it and then using Silencing Wail. Don't fail.
Progress: I heard nothing, initiate.
Finish: *Lyana claps* Well done.
The Blademaster (Starte: Range Trainer Lyana, End: Blademaster Grak) Obj: Speak with Grak Blackaxe <Blademaster of the Dark Quiver>.
Start: I have nothing more for you to do, initiate, so now I turn you over to Grak Blackaxe, Blademaster of the Dark Rangers. Why do we need a Blademaster, you ask? Because even we sometimes have to battle our opponents face to face. Now don't waste any more of my time.
Progress: What!
Finish: Is that all that woman can teach you, scrub? How to shoot a bow and make noises? *Grak Blackaxe laughs* I always knew she was worthless. *An arrow imbeds itself in Grak's shoulder*
Deul the Day Away (Start: Grak Blackaxe, End: Grak Blackaxe) Obj: Defeat 7 other Dark Rangers.
Start: Like I said, I'm here to teach you how to actually fight off an enemy. And not with just regular practice dummies either. No, you're going right into the heart of battle! Find any Dark Ranger in this area and best themin a duel, scrub!
Progress: *Grak Blackaxe is completely oblivious to your pressence*
Finish: * Grak Blackaxe laughs* Feels good, dosn't it, scrub? To see them break like that warms my heart.
Now face the best! (Start: Grak Blackaxe, End: Ranger Trainer Lyana) Obj: Defeat Grak Blackaxe <Blademaster of the Dark Quiver> in a duel then report to Ranger Trainer Lyana.
Start: You may have beat those scrubs, scrub. But don't get a swelled head! I'm still Blademaster around here, and I could defeat you without breaking a sweat! *Grak's rage builds as you roll you eyes* That does it! Prepare for pain!
Progress: Well? What happened
(Upon defeating Grak Blackaxe he says: "S-sorry for getting in your way, initiate...")
Finish: *Ranger Trainer Lyana laughs* In all my years, I don't think I've ever felt this good. Nice job in putting that orc oaf in his place. *Lyana continues to smile to herself*
Your Master will be proud (Start: Ranger Trainer Lyana, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Return to Nathanos Blightcaller.
Start: You've completed all that I and the Blademaster had for you to do, and more. I'm afraid that your time here is done. Return to Nathanos Blightcaller at once.
Progress: Hmm?
Finish: Done already? You'd best tell me all about it.
The Blightcaller Should Know (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Inform the Blightcaller about your achivements.
Start: You've had a busy day, <name>, I can tell. And I must say; I'm impressed. But before we talk about any further training, I would like to hear all about your accopmlishments.
Progress:(Discussion)
Nathanos: Now, start at the beganing. What happened after I sent you to see Lyana?
You: Well, I found her, and I completed her training routine as well as found her horse...
Nathanos: Brk stole it again? I'm going to have to have a work with that goblin. Continue.
You: After that I was assigned to work with Blademaster Grak Blackaxe.
Nathanos: *Nathanos laughs* I hope he wasn't too hard on you, <name>, Blackaxe is known for snapping initiates in two at times.
You: Actually, after I completed his training routine I bested him in single combat.
Finish: *Nathanos is silent for a moment* Bested Grak Blackaxe... I suppose you've come farther then I had thought, name. Only 8 people have ever beaten Grak up untill now: me, the six other council members, and... one other. Perhapes its time you were given more appropriate assignments.
Thoughts?

Where are they? (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Dark Ranger Corpse) Obj: Find the missing Dark Ranger patrol.
Start: <name>, just before you got back I had recived word that a border partrol of my Rangers has yet to return. This is exteremly unusual, Dark Rangers are typically rather... punctual. I want you to head to the west - the location where they were last seen - and find them.
Progress: *You cover your mouth as you inspect the body*
Finish: *This body, as well as the others nearby, is heavily mutilated and left completely in the open. Who or whatever did this wasn't worried about covering his, her or its trail. You swear to yourself to mete out vengence for your fallen brothers and sisters.*
What are they? (Start: Strange Creature Corpse, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Follow the creature's trail to the north and then report to Nathanos Blightcaller.
Start: *You quickly decide that this... thing is unlike any creature you've ever encountered. A closer inspection of the area around the beast reveals tracks that come from the north. You decide to follow them to wherever they may lead*
Progress: W-what did you say?
Finish: The patrol, slaughtered. Strange creatures. *Nathanos' posture slumps a little more* Shadows save us...
This is Madness! (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Slay 6 Maddend Dark Rangers.
Start: This dosn't bode well, <name>, these creatures appear and, all of a sudden, my Rangers start to fighting amongst each other! And not simple duels, either, I mean full, to-the-death combat! If this keeps up there wont be but a handful of us Rangers left! This must not be allowed to happed! Return to the ground and assist in slaying any insane Rangers you find!
Progress: The killings continue! Don't dawdle!
Finished: Not a tear shed for those you killed, not a tear shed for those lost. This is the way of the Dark Rangers, even now.
Vengence for the Quiver! (Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Kill 10 Mind-Warpers and 10 Rampant Monstrosities.
Start: Whatever's doing this to my Rangers is operating from within the Grove, <name>. No, worse, its operating from within our own town! We've lost all contact with the armory, and I suspect that these creatures you report have something to do with it! Go there and kill whatever you find!
Progress: Do we have the armory again?
Finish: Excellent, these creatures will find that we wont take this insult lying down!
Randardor, Son of the Blightcaller (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Randardor Blightcaller) Obj: Speak with Randardor Blightcaller near the creature base.
Start: We've bested those things here, <name>, but we havn't beaten them yet. If your reports are correct, then these creatures operate from that base northwest of here. I have already sent a small group of Dark Rangers to scout it out, I want you to join them. Venture to the eastern side of that camp and seek out my son, Randardor.
Progress: You need something?
Start: Father sent you to help me, did he, <race>? Good, we'll need all the help we can get. These things are everywhere!
Search and Siphon (Start: Randardor Blightcaller, End: Randardor Blightcaller) Obj: Use the Loaned Eye of Acherus to siphon structural information from the Strange Creature Crystal, Barracks, and Altar.
Start: From what I can see from here there are three main objects these things go to regularly. One's some kind of cyrstal, the other two are stuctures. Based on their design I belive them to be some kind of Barracks and an Altar. Why is this important? Running this things out won't be enough, we need to make sure they wont be able to use this site again, should they sneak past us or we lose ground. Either way, trying to destroy them wont do us much good unless we know how. Fortunately I have a plan. Take this, its an... eye that we were able to convince the death knights of Acherus into letting us use. From what I understand, it will let you siphon structural data from the buildings. Oh, and, <race>, should you get into trouble, that eye also has the power to summon up undead to protect you.
Progress: Well? We don't have forever! These things could strike again at any moment!
Finished: This is... incredible! This data is like nothing I've ever seen! And it reveals several flaws we can use. You've done well, <name>.
Bring the Rain (Start: Randardor Blightcaller, End: Randardor Blightcaller) Obj: Assist Randardor and his Dark Rangers in assaulting the creature base, using the Dark Magic charges to destroy any structures.
Start: The time has come, <name>, these creatures are at the weakest and we have the knowledge to take them down. And I plan to use that to our advantage! I'm attacking the camp now, and your going to help me. *He glares at you* Whether you like it or not!
Progress: Don't stand there! Fight!
(Randardor will yell these quotes throughout the battle:
"For the Dark Quiver!"
"In the Blightcaller name!"
"Leave none standing brothers and sisters!"
"You foul creatures have tarried here long enough!")
Finished: We've done it, <race>. This portion of the grove is ours once more! These things have fallen into a retreat, I say we keep them running!
There's More where that came From (Start: Randardor Blightcaller, End: Randardor Blightcaller) Obj: Speak with Randardor at the border of the creature base on the far west of the Grove.
Start: I must say, <name>, you've proven yourself to be quite the ranger today. We've won the battle here, but there are more of those things out there. My scouts report an even larger number of them in the western portion of the Grove. There are only a few more things for me to finish up here, but I'll be waiting for you when you arrive at the next outpost. Trust me on that.
Progress: What took you so long?
End: How did I get here so fast? Oh, it was just something a wizard taught me once. And it's not really the point, anyway.
Another Push (Start: Randardor Blightcaller, End: Randardor Blightcaller) Obj: Attack and defeat the creatures at the entrance to the cavern, killing 5 Mind-Bender Guards, 5 Brain-Wipers, 5 Ground Reavers.
Start: Listen well, <name>, for us Dark Rangers, when push comes to shove, we shove. Now, these creatures are far more intrenched then they were at the other base, so surveying the area first isn't going to help us. The moment they realize we're here, they're going to come down on us like the Plague of Undeath. So, in that respect, we're going to do that to them. Prepare yourself for battle!
Progress: Still standing around? Maybe you are useless.
(Randardor will yell these quotes throughout the battle:
"For the Dark Quiver!"
"In the Blightcaller name!"
"Leave none standing brothers and sisters!"
"You foul creatures have tarried here long enough!")
Finish: Another victory for the Dark Quiver!
The Final Push (Start: Randardor Blightcaller, End: Randardor Blightcaller) Obj: Lead the next Dark Ranger assault, pushing the creatures back further into the cavern.
Start: You've proven yourself twice today, <name>, and for that I'm going to give you a rare honor. I want you to lead the next attack that will drive the creature back into whatever circle of hell they came from! You've done well so far, <name>. Don't fail me!
Progress: Victory will be ours!
Finish: *Randardor grins as you inform him of your victory. The grin then sharpely fades* A well won battle, but it's strange. I don't remember any cave here...
Inform my Father (Start: Randardor Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Return to the Shadowed Spire and give Nathanos Blightcaller Randardor's Battle Report.
Start: <Name> I'm going to stay here and insure that we keep those things in there, see if I can push them back further back just a little bit more. You, however, are going to take news of each of this victories to my father, if he's anything like he's been in the past, he'll be in the Shadowed Spire, sitting back comfortably while everyone else does his dirty work. *Nathanos shakes his head, laughing* Senile old man.
Progress: What?
Finish: Senile? He called me senile! *Nathanos laughs* That's just like my son, always the smartmouth. Even so, he's a talented ranger, and, by the report you've brought me it seems like you are too. And that's something, if it's coming from him.
Return to the Front (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Ranger Commander Marrah) Obj: Return to the cavern to continue to push the creatures back.
Start: Our work is not yet done, <name>, untill those things are completely erradicated I don't feel safe leaving that area be. I want you to return to that... cave, you said it was, and continue the fight! May the Shadows watch over you, Dark Ranger.
Progress: *Ranger Commander Marrah gives you a confused look* The Son of the Blightcaller?
Finished: Yes, I know who he is, but why are you looking for him here? He announced rather loudly that he was leading a group down into the cavern just a little while ago. *Marrah nods as you explain* Ah, you wern't here, well then, you'll find him somewhere down in the cave, for sure. But...
Rescue Randardor (Start: Ranger Commander Marrah, End: Randardor Blightcaller's Corpse) Obj: Find Randardor in the cavern.
Start: Just after Randardor and his group got into the caverns mouth beyond our sight, we heard scream and the sounds of combat. We ran in to try and help, but we found nothing, not even a body. Randardor's still in there, and my guess is that he's in trouble
Finished: *The body of Randador floats above the alter. There's no signs of life*
A message to your Masters (Start: Darkwhisperer Zool, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Return to Nathanos Blighcaller with news of his son's death, and Darkwhisperer Zool's warning.
Start: (You will not be released from Zool's grasp untill you accept the quest) *A horrible voice enters your mind* Do you fear me... Little one? Good... All should fear me and what I am... Don't worry, though... little one... I'm not going to kill you... No... That one... He was... Stubborn... He rufused to do as I asked... You... However... wont... Take a message to you masters... Tell them that... If they don't leave this land... They will... suffer...
Progress: How did you get here?
Start: *Nathanos slumps over, clearly distraught* My son... dead... why...
Wrath of the Blightcaller (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Return to the cavern and kill 12 Guardians of Zool, 6 Watchers of Zool, and 12 Shadowcharmers of Zool , then confront Zool.
Start: *Hate wells up within Nathanos* My son... They did this to him... *He glares at you* You are going to return to that cave <name>! Find that creature that did this and destroy him, as well as anything that gets in your way! Now! No one disgraces the Blightcaller name and lives!
Progress: Must I repeat myself? MOVE!
(Upon interacting with Zool he will whisper this: "Little one... You are more of a fool... Then... I thought... Tell your masters... that... Their time... has come.)
Finish: Our time has come, it said? *Nathanos scowls* No, the Dark Quiver will not simply roll over and die! We will fight! And we WILL win!
The Battle for Trisfal Grove (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanos Blightcaller) Obj: Join Nathanos Blightcaller and the other Dark Rangers upon the field of battle, then battle the minions of Zool and Zool himself.
Start: Marrah and her group recently returned. They've reported that those creatures have broken throught the barricade they had set up, and are on their way here. *Nathanos grips his hand into a fist* They will not find us easy prey. <name>, you will join me on the field of battle. They have brought the fight to us, and we will meet it with the full fury of the Dark Quiver!
Progress: Don't stand there! Fight!
(Nathanos will yell these quotes throughout the battle:
"For the Dark Quiver!"
"In the Blightcaller name!"
"Leave none standing brothers and sisters!"
"You foul creatures have tarried here long enough!"
"This is for my son!"
Nathanos will yell this upon completion of the battle:
"Rangers of the Quiver retreat! Fall back to the Spire! There are too many! We've... lost...)
Finish: We've failed, <name>. We've failed to keep the grove. All we can do now is fight to maintain control of the Spire.

They must not take the Spire! (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Nathanosh Blightcaller) Obj: Kill 10 Zool Invaders, 10 Zool Soul-Harvesters, 5 Zool Sight-Benders, and Darkwhisperer Kias'thar <Hargringer of Zool>.
Start: <name>, all that we've worked for is undone. Our lands, lost. Our structures, used as cover for these creatures. *Nathanos sighs* Our battle of pride has become a fight for survival. <name>, you have become one of our strongest. You must aid us, if we loose the Spire, then all hope of regaining control of the Grove is lost.
Progress: *Nathanos seems lost in thought*
Finish: I can think of only one way to save our order, <name>. My mentor must know what has befallen our sect.
The Fate of the Dark Quiver (Start: Nathanos Blightcaller, End: Lady Sylvanas Windrunner) Obj: Travel to the Undercity and report the Dark Quiver's situation to Lady Sylvanas Windrunner <Banshee Queen>.
Start: If you did not know, <name>, I was trained in the ways of the Ranger by Sylvanas Windrunner. After Lordaeron fell and I was freed from the Lich King's grasp I joined her in the ranks of the Forsaken, led by Sylvanas herself. I became the Second of the Forsaken's Dark Rangers, and Ranger General of the Dark Quiver. *Nathanos nods* The Banshee Queen started this order, she should know what has befallen it.
Progress: One of the Dark Quiver? What do you seek?
Finish: The Quiver was... defeated? Impossible!
Pray he's not that Dumb (Start: Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, End: Warcheif Garrosh Hellscream) Obj: Travel to Orgrimmar and swear your loyalty to Warcheif Garrosh Hellscream.
Start: *You finish relating the full details of what transpired to Lady Windrunner* If what your saying is true, then the Dark Quiver will need assistance. It is beyond my power, at the moment, to do anything. Why? Take a look around! Any kind of military power I had has been robbed from me by these orcs! *Sylvanas shakes her head* No, only one person can help you now. Go to Orgrimmar, capital of the Horde, and seek out Garrosh Hellscream.
Progress: What is it, Ranger? *Garrosh spits on you*
(Swearing your loyalty to Garrosh:
You: Warcheif, I have come here to ask for your aid
Garrosh: The Horde has more important things to do then deal with your problems. We have a war to fight!
You: Warcheif, I am prepared to swear my loyalty to you, in order to gain the help of your glorious armies.
Garrosh: *Garosh Chuckles* Very well, proceed.
You: Warchief, by the honor, might, and glory of the Horde, I have come before you.
Garrosh: *Garrosh nods*
You: By my honor, and weakness, I have requested your aid.
Garrosh: *Garrosh nods*
You: I swear my life to you and your cause, I will serve it, as will my brother and sisters of the Dark Quiver.)
Finish: We shall see, <name>, we shall see.
Promises and Lies (Start: Garrosh Hellscream, End; Nathanos Bligthcaller) Obj: Return to Nathanos Blightcaller with news of your success at gathering support for the Dark Quiver.
Start: Very well, <name>, the Horde shall give assistance to your order. However, you had better make good on your promise to aid us in our battle agianst the Alliance. Go now, Ranger, and give word to your master that the Horde shall help them.
Progress: There are Warsong soldiers everywhere! What did you do?
Finish: *Nathanos breaks into a peel of laughter* It was that simple? Garrosh is without doubt the dumbest orc I have ever seen! Even so, you've done well, <name>. With the support of the Warsong, the Dark Quiver will finally be able to beat back these things. I will call on you one day, <name>, but, for now, it is up to you to make good on your promise to the Warcheif. It is time we walked from the shadows. Time that Azeroth knew what has been in the dark that has terrified them for generations. The Dark Rangers will join the battle against the Alliance, and we will crush them in the name of the Dark Quiver. In the name of the Horde!

Details:
Some other bit and peices about the Dark Ranger starting zone and their characterisistics that I've come up with.
Ranger Warhorse - Appearence is similar to the normal
Skeletal Horse
, but it will have a bit more leather armor added to it, and will have slightly less rot. The chain reigns are replaced by regular ones, and it will leave a green-black haze as it moves. Glowing red eyes.
Ranger Bat - A Trisfal Bat, armored and mountable. Is the Dark Ranger equivilent to the Death Knight Skeletal Gryphon. Glowing red eyes.
Mind Searer - These servents of the Old Gods walk on four, spider-like legs. Their upperbodies resemble
fleshbeasts
, minues the bony ridges on the back. The tentacles are sprouting from their back, and they have a single, massive eye. Exclusively casters. (Examples Zool Soul-Harvesters, Shadowcharmers of Zool, Mind-Bender Guards, Mind-Warpers)
Will Crushers - These are the exclusively melee equivilent to the Mind Searers. They have two massive legs and have clawed tentacles for arms. These have no eyes, but they do have a large, toothed mouth. They are covered in spines. (Zool Invaders, Guardians of Zool, Ground Reavers, Rampant Monstrosities)
Brain Flyers - Think of a brain with a single eye stalk and a pair of tectacles with moth-like wings. (Examples: Brain-Wipers, Zool Sight-Benders, Watchers of Zool)

More of the quest line added, along with my personal favorite in terms of dialouge: A Ranger and Her Horse.
EDIT: It's amazing how much one can fit into a single post.

Once, but it was a flatter idea back then. I'll give it another shot once I'm finished up here.
@Tauman, yes, they would get a free mount, and they'd start at level 58. Didn't give much thought into gear rewards, but I think the idea behind the powerful DK stuff was to help them get to Northrend quickly.

but Outland has juicy multi coloured loots that don't match!
And welll, a 58 start? Hmm i know it's another Hero Class but just don't make them so OP and what mount do they get again?
Death Knights wern't OP, they were well balanced, until they were nerfed 30+ times.
As for the mount, I'm going to be putting some more thought into that.

I've finished with the questline, and I've decided to use the other space to be a bit more specific about the Dark Ranger starting zone.

I like Nathanos... :P He's the Dr. House of WoW... :P
"Hmm, I must say, <name> when I was first heard of you I had my doubts, the other masters only barely were able to convince me to invite you for interviewing. But, now that I get a good look at you, my opinion remains unchanged."

Yeah, I tried to keep his personality close to what you see in some of the quests he gives you in the Plaguelands, but just a little lighter.
You are, after all, a Dark Ranger like he is.
EDIT: And if anyone can come up with a better name for the "Shadow Refiners" (AKA The Dark Ranger equivilent to Runeforges) I'd appriciate it.

Mind Searer - These servents of the Old Gods walk on four, spider-like legs. Their upperbodies resemble
fleshbeasts
, minues the bony ridges on the back. The tenticals are sprouting from their back, and they have a single, massive eye. Exclusively casters.
NPCs:
Those would be shadowfiends with big eyes really, don't know really, but what do those have to do with Old Gods anyways?
This is the basic model idea for the Zool Soul-Harvesters, Shadowcharmers of Zool, Mind-Bender Guards, Mind-Warpers, all servents of Zool. Who, quite obviously, is a minion of the Old Gods.
