Hello!
I have a big problem choosing to focus on a class. I got 9x lvl 80s (played since vanilla so havent leveled all during wotlk :) ), one 80 of all class except hunter.
Nowdays I like two things, tanking and pvping. Sure I like dpsing and healing too but on my server there are few tanks. Problem now is that I cant find the tankclass for me.
I got:
1x good geared feral druid tank, about 41k hp ub in bear form.
1x decent geared paladin tank, 33k hp
1x dk tank, about 26k hp
1x recently dinged war with about 21k hp in tank gear (I know!)
Problem I got is that I like diffrent things with all these classes. I love pally tanking, but ret is not that good for pvp and holy aint that fun either. Druid tanking is pretty booring but healing as druid is fun. I love the concept behind dks and wouldnt doubt to focus on him if I dont read all this about dks beeing waaay worst tank in game. (I havent tanked on him since 3.1) Also dks aint that good for pvp, only control.. no decent burst or survivability imo. I love pvping with my warrior but is war tanking fun? I heard its hard and you will pull your hair alot.
So, reason I ask this is soon will 3.3 drop with all these awsome gear and I would like to focus on one class to gear him up mainly to be able to tank raids and do well for pvp. I bet someone will say "Pick the class you like playing with" and thats true but I like many classes and cant really pick one myself.
So, what class should I pick?
Are warrior tanking fun?
Can dks be end game tanks and do a good job or is it much harder to get there then lets say paladins?
What about DKs in pvp? CAn they do any decent burst or are they gimped now?
I know that there maybe are many post like this but this thing is bugging me alot and I dunno what to do.

Ssso, looks like you swept the Druid off the table (my inner Druid cries :( ), and you are picking between a Pally, which you like, DK, which you like too but are worried about their power, and a Warrior.
Black Divison, the best PvE guild on my realm... their main tank is a
Blood Death Knight
. Their website says their world rank is 21. <-- should be enough of an evidence about the worth of DKs in end game.
I also have a Death Knight tank, and tanking with a DK is quite challenging... when you go Blood. Frost is almost as easy as Prot Pally and Druid. (i use frost for heroics ^_^ )
Druid tanking was my choice... i love the Druid class for the lore, and they also have awesome utilities unique to their class. Instant flying form, cat form, a CC that has its own DR, battlerez, innervate... good stuff. And while generating threat itself is quite simple with a druid, i dont think its a bad thing... gives you a lot of time to concentrate on the other things in the fight.
(by the way, my guild is the best aliance guild on my realm , and i am the guilds Main Tank with my Druid)
Paladin... i am currently leveling a Prot Pally, he is lvl 76. So far looks quite simple, the pally tanking rotation is not really the most difficult. Paladins too have a wide range of utility abilities, with a couple of unique buffs. When i am on my druid, a Paladin is my most favorite off-tank. Blessing of Sanctuary can really buff my threat gen, as well as add some good mitigation. Auras are cool, Cleanse is cool, bubble is cool, pallies are just nice. I still prefer the druidish utility though :3
And warrior... well, i do not have any high level warriors. Got one at lvl 13, but i plan to delete him as id like to start a Worgen Warrior once they are available. I would like to complete my compendium of tanking characters :B I have heared they have the widest range of interesting buttons they can press in a fight. I have seen a vid of warr tanking rotation, and it seemed like its pretty reactive, you have to rely on talent procs and stuff. I dont have very much experience with warrior off-tanks either, ive mostly had DKs, Pallies, or Druids. What it think is awesome about warriors though... they can charge a friendly target, and they can charge an enemy. Gosh there have been so many many situations where i was like "oh god id love to be able to charge a raid member now".
Also... the general "tanking classes" rule follows:
All the tanking classes can tank all the content equally well, with a very very small ammount of exceptions. All the tanking classes are capable of generating enough threat (be it single target or AoE) to be well ahead of the DPS. The choice of a tanking class is purely a matter of personal preference, since they are all balanced.

Very nice answear! Thank you!
I agree with you that druids are very nice and I would like them a lot more if it wasn't for two things, Staring at same fluffy ass all the time gets booring (give armor to show on the bear imo) and I can tank every raid with one macro spamming.
It feels good that there are a MT who is death knight. But if I specify my question a little bit more, how are DK to tank with if at lower ilvl:s. When you dont got access to BiS gear can a DK do equally good job as a paladin with same level of gear?
When I think about it I really like the DK way of tanking. Its very unique! But why do everyone says DKs are the worst tank? What makes them the worst?
And what about DK in pvp? Got any experience of that?

What makes them worst? Is it 30% difference between pally(best) and dk? or is it 10%?

It is unfortunate how quite a good post (although freakishly biased) can turn into a bad one so fast. Lawl i do not think some silly -20% dodge is going to destroy me. My remaining dodge is still gonna be as high as warriors remaining dodge+parry. And getting hit more boosts my threat.

if you stick with the druid keep in mind you're the only tanking class that can't tank kael'thas' pyroblasts realistically
pallies and warriors have the event shield to absorb it fully
death knights have AMS to absorb nearly all of it
bears have barkskin and better be over 44k health in case it hits for max damage
aside from this scenario all tanks are capable of tanking all encounters, current or dated, with varying degrees of ease
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NO, chill of the thrown isn't directed at druids, all tanks have 20%+ dodge and it will hit them equally, the reason it effects dodge is because it's the one avoidance stat all tanks share
yes, because dodge is a druid's only source of avoidance it will be
slightly
harder on us while plate tanks could dip below 20% dodge in favor of more parry but that also means wading farther into parry DR
from the state of current raiding EH > avoidance and based on that and the chill of the throne it's safe to assume it will stay the course and tanks will be encouraged to gear for EH over wading farther into DR
it's also possible that paladins, like the rest of this expansion, will have a slight lead in ICC due to the inevitable presence of undead foes making the majority of the raid a bit more gimmicky for paladins while bein unchanged for the rest
combined with the uncany infatuation blizz seems to have with paladins, prot in particular (yeah slightly biased), and it's safe to assume ICC will favor them
so with the "pally love" and emphesis on EH ICC tanking will most likely be along the lines of pally > druid > warrior > DK
but all will be able to successfully tank all ICC encounters with varying degrees of ease

i think i'd like SD better if the spell were actually named "Druid Block"
the absence of a passive minor physical absorption of some sort is the big drawback of DKs that will most likely need to be addressed in time but it's not as if that lack makes them ill equipped for tanking

Call me crazy but if you like different characters for different play styles why don't you use one character for PVP and another for PVE?

Bears are the least represented, and seem to be your best geared, but Paladins are the most OP.
