Ok so here is the deal. I have been away from WoW now for 2 years and am looking to come back to have some fun. I played Wow for 3 years and have played DK, hunter, lock and shammy. The Dk was my main after leaving the hunter behind and I loved tanking. With returning to wow I am going to use the scroll and I get a free 80. I am looking to play a new char and am thinking of either rolling a druid or a pally. I love tanking but I also want to try healing and Dps is always fun for leveling, bgs ect.
The delemma comes in choosing the druid or pally. Both have pros and cons for each spec and I just can't seem to choose one. I have never rolled a druid and I only have very low level pallies so I really don't know what their game play is like.
I would love some opinions on which one to choose and why as I just can't seem to pick. I want to have fun and enjoy end game with being able to heal dps and tank. Also what raids are looking for the most these days and say what specs are better (and more fun) eg single pally heals to tree heals. I know in jumping to 80 that I will not know the class as well as i should, but I pick things up quick and I will be putting time into that char. Thanks to all that say something and I appreciate your time... and hopefully I can pick one by the end and have some fun!

If you rather do range dps instead of melee, then the obvious answer is Druid.
If it doesn't matter, or you like melee more, then it gets a little harder.
Pally Tank - Relies on their mastery to reach the CTC. This helps with taking either less/no damage from enemy melee based attacks. They still take full damage from magical attacks. They also have several different cooldowns that can be used to mitigate the damage they would take.
Druid Tank - Rely on high amounts of dodge to dodge most attacks. I don't know much else about Druid Tanks so I'll leave that to someone else.
Pally Healer - Paladin Healers specialize in single target healing, and can do okay with raid healing. Their only 2 AoE heals are limited in who they hit, as those need to either be in-front of you or close to the person you cast the spell on. They also have Lay on Hands for when someone needs some healing.
Druid Healer - Most of their spells are HoTs. They can also be cast on several players at one time. They are about the opposite of Holy Paladins. They don't do as well in single target heals. But they do them well enough. They also have Tranquility which is nice to get a lot of low health players up quickly.
Retribution Paladin - Has very good burst damage. Useful for fights where you can plan out when something needs to die quickly, such as the Spine of Deathwing fight.
Feral Druid - Again, I don't know much about Feral DPS. They seem to have more sustainable DPS than a Ret Pally. Aside from that I don't know much about them.
Something to keep in the back of you mind is that come Mists, lots of things are being changed. Tanks are going to focus more on actual damage reductions, such as Paladins are going have their SotR changed up. Tanking Druids are also getting their own spec for it. Among several other things that are being changed. You may want to keep an eye out for the various Wowhead changes to the beta as well as a Youtube channel that talks about one of the toons.

Thank you guys so much for your replies. Some good points were mentioned and I have been doing a bit of research on what is happening (so far) in MoP. Things are going to be changed up a lot and i'm sure it will change a few things. At the moment I am leaning more towards the druid and of cause a worgen. It seems like it is a lot harder to master and of course a bigger challenge. It also seems leks in MoP their healing is going to be fun and with the different and new tree system the roles are going to be more defined. Like no more side spec tank from kitty, but 45 seconds of it. But i wonder what exactly the dodge and armor will amount to with the gear ect.
One of the reasons I left was because things got too easy. Like with my DK i was soloing instances and even some heroics. I would run people thorugh to bosses for easy money. It required little or no skill. Also scrubs got easy gear jumped in ICC raids and wiped them /fail (partly my fault for getting them the gear). I am sure not much has changed but one can hope (a little bit) that giving the game 2 years things might have improved. Your imput on this would help greatly as well.
Thanks again for your replies and anyone else reading this if you have anything to say about upcoming changed on pallies or druids please chuck in your thoughts.
