For Modifier keys, you can either bind, say alt-1 to another action bar, or use macros to control it. Most people prefer the macro method, since you don't need to have multiple bars up.
If you're not going to use your A,S,D,W,X, etc for movment, you could go ahead and bind them to actionbars. I believe you could bind your numberpad keys for movement (Never done it myself, but it should be doable...I use the mouse for movement myself, but if you're a leftie, the numberpad is on the opposite side of the keyboard from the default movement keys.)

Try switching your mouse over to the right hand and learn to walk with WASD + Right click. Once you have that down, try binding 1-5 on your keyboard or something.
I went from clicking to the keyboard myself. I also write with my left hand, but I've always been a right hand on mouse, left hand on WASD kind of player.

I'm a lefty too and I agree with Racthoh... I moved my keyboard around enough so my left hand is on the keyboard and I'm using the mouse for movement and camera. I keep the keys around WASD for my most important stuff (E for interrupts, for example).
I'm a fury warrior and I keep Sunder and HS bound to my scroll wheel and everything else that I use constantly is bound to the buttons around F where my index finger rests. I rest my thumb on Space near Alt so I can bring up Alt keybinds quickly.
With something like that, taking out WASD for movement that leaves you ~8 keys to bind (then add modifier keys) all accessible on your left hand without having to reach even the number row. I have long fingers so it's easy for me to reach though as well.
Honestly I found the biggest challenge was getting used to using the mouse in the right hand. Once I got used to that, everything else was cake.

I'm lefty, and i used to be a clicker. I realized, just as you, that it was holding me back alot in both PvE and PvP.
so basicly what i did was to bind my abilities close to WASD and then just run a few dungeons and HC's. it didn't really take that long to get used to, like a day or two, and it really increased my performance.
so my advice is, just bind it all as you feel, and get used to it, there's not really any shortcuts.

Pro tip #1: Apostrophes don't make things plural.
I use ASD for movement. There is never a need to slowly walk backward when you can mouse-turn 90 degrees and strafe. Given your left-handedness, I would mirror it with L;'.
My actions are bound to QWERFCXZ and I use LShift to bind my second bar on those buttons. If I was left-handed, I would bind ][p. Don't worry, it'll come in time. Take it from a former clicker.
Edit: Oh, and I've found that binding OPie to my middle click and using subrings has freed up TONS of bar space. Try it. =D

Here is a tip from my side.
First off, don't use WASD, it won't give you enough keys to bind.
Use ESDF.
Second, modifiers (ctrl, alt, shift) are GREAT, but alt an ctrl is a bit too far away to be accessed quickly. You can switch Caps Lock and CTRL here:
http://www.manicai.net/comp/swap-caps-ctrl.html
Now you have Q, W, R, T, A, G, Z, X, C, V, B for easy access, Y, H and N for medium-easy access, CTRL (Caps Lock)+(all those keys) quite easy, SHIFT+(all those keys) kinda easily and ALT+(all those keys) for stuff like buffs, mounts and consumables.
On a sidenote, don't use qwerty either. Use dvorak.

Frame rate problems in instances on a laptop?
I wrote an addon that may help...the initial setup takes a few minutes (you have to set up your graphics 4 times, once for each of 4 setups) but
Lagbuster
can be used to automatically load different graphics settings based on what zone you're in, raising or lowering things like resolution, detail levels, particle density and so on so in zones where you normally have bad framerates, you can set it to adjust the settings without having to open up the games' graphics console every time.
The initial settling in adjustments can look wierd...don't panic, they assume you want REALLY low settings in zones like Dalaran. Just follow the directions for setting up the four default configurations for your particular machine, and then you can pick one of your preprogrammed configurations for each of the instances you're having framerate issues in.
