Grab it from your pets spell book and place it on the pet action bar (or leave it in the spell book, either work). Manually click it once your pet is dead. I hope that helps.

Easiest way i found to use it was make a macro
/cast Heart of the Phoenix (shift click the spell into the macro)
and bound it to a key that way when i needed to i could just hit the key and BAM my pet is back in the action.
