My laptop's screen blacked out. Since the warranty expired a bit over a year ago, I have to pay for it to get fixed. I called Dell tech support to find out why and they say it has something to do with LCD, I think. I'm no computer nerd. Been trying to call the Dell parts but they've always been closed and I've been too busy these past 3 weeks to be home during the weekdays. This @#$% sucks. I probably will end up buying a $1000 desktop. Ugh... I really miss WoW. I probably will miss out on the Winter Veil. :'(

So my laptop decided to not function properly...took ages to start it up,it felt very random (starting it up didnt necessarily mean i got to use it)- so I did the right thing - called ACER customer support..this is sort of how it went down:
"Heya,my laptop takes ages to even start up,if it does start up,its not 100 % guaranteed i can use it...whats the deal, customer support person?"
"Ummm" (And i felt like an idiot, because i couldnt describe it as detailed as i wanted to - how i was getting frustrated ,sitting in front of this laptop, hoping it would ...just work, how I was planning to throw this piece of junk out the window, ritualistically murdering this crappy piece of machinery, disgracing it any way i could)
"Yes?"
"Ummm, sorta sounds like it could be your motherboard..."
"Ok,Im not a technician, but that sounds serious - are you sure?I mean ,it works occasionally?"
"Yes Im sure."
"With the limited knowledge i have about computers...hrrm..doesnt that mean its ...really dead?Like,it really needs to have a functioning motherboard...right?"
"Yes"
"So its dead then-and I need to get a new one?"
"Yes."
"Ok,thank you for your time mr support person, and have a nice day"
"You too"
*click*
RAGE. - "wth,i need to buy a new lappy, crap crap crap." - I decided to give it ...one more try,on my stationary unit, google it,see if theres anyone else with this problem - there was. Some people had even found a solution to it,make it work just fine - guess what they did (and what I did, even tho i felt like ...naaah,cant be THAT easy...)
I removed the battery.
Plugged the powerchord in.Put it on.
Hey,Ive got icons!Keyboards working! I can do lkdsjljajg if I want to!
In my world (right now)customer support sucks and the interwebz rules, and thats probably why i posted this,in this very random thread.Good luck with your Dell tho m8.

Why in gods good name are you telling all the strangers in the world about your insecurity when you cant play a game for 3 weeks? If you just need someone to talk to yell up the stairs and ask Mom to come down and make sure she brings hot pockets, dont want her wasting a trip.
Plus just get a job and a buy a new computer. Problem solved.
@prosith, I dont know wether you mocking him or telling your own crying story or looking for a new dry cleaner because your old dry cleaners lost your favorite sports jacket that the girl at the football game spilled fruit punch on.

if you have a spare monitor, you can hook that up. That's what i did when my laptop screen crapped out.
just make it to where it used it as a clone monitor.
