Well, i have been trying to get my guild to accept me as being a disc priest. Today i asked one of the officiers, and he didn't think that disc is a tank healer but a raid healer. When i saw that i was very sad.
So i need your help explaining why a disc priest is a good addition to the raid and whats it's roles, because my guild doesn't believe me.
I do have my own post on my guild's forums but only a few think that disc priest are good.
P.S. We have 2 holy priests not including and they usually bring 7-8+ healers too..

Either try explaining it again or find a new guild no offense but they kinda sound like fail.

Do any of the other healers (priest or otherwise, maybe preferably otherwise since your holy priests
may
be in an all holy all the way mindset) in the guild have any particular clout with the guild?
Bring that healer to this forum to read around a bit. Or bring a sympathetic non-healer officer if you need to.

This is what you do, as i had the same problem as you. Now we have 3 disc priests in our guild.
Run Sarth with 3 Drakes up. Heal the main tank on your own and they will see how good a disc priest can be. Or, if your not at that stage yet, heal th main tank on patchwerk alone. or any tank on your own all the way through the instance. if they don't see it by then, find a new guild.
or, tell them to sign up here and we can have a chat with him.

I have an idea.
Let's find all the guilds that measure performance by the meters. Those that post DPS and (omg) HPS after every kill. Create a special server just for them, someplace where they can strut and puff their chests as much as their precious little egos desire. Quietly put the server on a boat and push it out to sea. Buh-bye.
The rest of us can stick around and discuss the interesting dynamics of raid utility, cross-buffing, damage mitigation, situational awareness -- and the joys of playing less popular specs and finding our own way with their novelty and ever-changing quirks. We can relish in the new mode of "bring the player not the class;" even though it's unpolished and oh-so-imperfect, it changed our attitude about raiding and guild relationships entirely.
Bon appetit people, the game remains tasty to those with refined palates.

hear! hear!
I agree about hps meters serve no point as long as the tank lives
Dps meters have there place while pugging it shows bad dps (25 voa new boss and 2 ret pallies were at 800 dps on the wipe and the kill) also dps can help members improve there dps and show slackers.
But i do agree most guilds/pugs use dps meters to just to pump there epeen

What's been said here so far is pretty accurate. Disc is an
incredible
benefit for raids, and if your raid/guild leader doesn't understand those benefits then he either needs to do his research (all raid/guild leaders should have a firm grasp of each class/spec to be effective) or you need to leave that guild ASAP because there are many others that do understand disc priest.
Healing meters will do disc no justice, but that's because they're not a HPS spec, it's all mitigation which there's no reliable meter for (that I'm aware of). The only people that honestly care about healing meters are morons and druids.

^ Very true have them post a overheal meter after they post the hps and lol at all there overhealing while you enjoy very little/none

Finnr, your raid leader isn't leading properly. If he isn't willing to research and find out what works best for your raid AND STAY UP TO DATE ON IT, then you might as well leave because you're a huge asset and if he isn't using your as a resource, you should go somewhere that you will be appreciated and used to your potential.
If your raid leader doesn't understand the ins and outs of raid composition, he's just a guy with an ego problem barking orders.
