Grinding on mobs: Efficient?

I've always wanted to find out if purely grinding on mobs was as efficient as questing, because to me, questing is not as appealing to facerolling monsters for 5-hours straight :D
Also, I like the simple concept of just killing monsters for experience.
Has anybody done this? I've heard some people purely grinding to 70, but i'd like to know in detail how they did it, what spots they went to at what levels, and which classes are best at it.
I'm currently thinking of rolling a warlock, paladin, or hunter, so any help would be appreciated.

Hmm....well questing is a big part of wow, so I guess i'll just stick with questing
I wonder how the guy that told me he grinded his rogue to 70 did it though.

It's possible, but you would probably want to claw your eyes out after a while.

It's not even close. Questing is much faster and much more efficient. I also find it hard to believe you'd prefer killing the same mob over and over for hours to exploring and questing.
Go play Ragnarok Online if you don't like questing.
Lol, I did play Ragnarok Online for quite some time.
I guess my personal preference is different from you guys, but questing doesn't hurt,
I was just wondering if grinding was as efficient, because if it was I would have done that instead.
Exploring at the same time seems exciting as well, so I guess grinding is out of the question now.

Your best bet is to do what Atathor said. Only take quests that require you to kill mobs/get items from dead mobs. You'll have to go into towns anyways to sell things and repair, so you may as well pick up quests then, you'll still only really be facerolling things, and you'll be getting a huge amount of bonus exp for doing what you want to do anyways.

I grind a lot til about level 25.
I get quests, go to the area where a mob is, and kill at least double the mob needed.
But that's mostly because I want to have an easy time questing. If you go and finish quests quickly, you might start getting quests intended for 1 or 2 levels higher than you are, and you can have trouble with them. More deaths = more grief. I love doing quests where I kill things in less than 10 seconds, because they are 3-4 levels under me. And the quests still give the same amount of xp.
So I do a mix.

Never tried this and keeping mana up becomes tough.
A prot pally's mana regen increases proportionately to the number of mobs he pulls. A prot pally should only run out of mana if he runs out of mobs.

I always grind from 25-30. For those levels I find that I run out of viable quests. Just finished southern Barrens and some 1000 needles quests. Tauren Mill quests are done which leaves the harder ones till later. I could go to Ashenvale or Stone Talon Mountains, but those quests are spread out and there's a lot of running around. Even with a mount, I find it's easier to just grind out those levels.
After I ding 30, Both the Shimmering Flats and STV open up and I continue questing. Sometimes it's just faster to grind it out.
