Hi, I recently started playing WoW, and I decided to roll a hunter. I was wondering what are 2 good professions for a hunter?

Mining/Engineering is pretty cool. It can be pretty frustrating at times, but Feign Death and Goblin Jumper Cables (

) are invaluable against wipes.
Skinning/Leatherworking is good. You can make your own armor, along with armor for Rogues, Shamans, Druids, and other Hunters. It can really pay off in the high levels.
Herbalism/Alchemy is good for pretty much anyone and is very good for a beginning player, due to the simplistic nature of the profession.
Skinning/Mining is also pretty good if you are into making money. Having two gathering professions can make you rich when you use the Auction House for selling them. My 24 Priest has around 50-60g made by himself.

If you don't mind using guns you can build your own weapons and ammo - ammo which is considerably better than what you can buy at the store at that level I might add and this is very very helpful.
Also, in patch 2.3 you can make arrows from
Adamantite Arrow Maker
which create
Adamantite Stinger
for level 62
