Good Healing Gear for the non-raider

What would be some good +healing gear for those people who haven't had a chance to do a lot of raiding?
Obviously, Primal Mooncloth for waist, chest (robe), and shoulders. Whitemend is also good for the head and legs but the nethers require instances. I have
Pants of the Naaru
and have tried looking up good things but am overwhelmed by the choices.
Mostly I am looking for craftables, quest rewards, and non-heroic dungeons (as I am only attuned for some heroics and don't get many invites for 10- and 25-mans).
Anyone willing to give a little advice?
* Head - ? (Whitemend Hood)
* Neck - ? (Necklace of Bloodied Feathers?)
* Shoulders - Primal Mooncloth Shoulders
* Chest - Primal Mooncloth Robe
* Waist - Primal Mooncloth Belt
* Cloak - ? (White Remedy Cloak?)
* Wrist - ?
* Gloves -
* Legs - Pants of the Naaru
* Boots - ? (Shattrath Jumpers?)
* Ring -
* Ring -
* Trinket - Lower City Prayerbook
* Trinket - Lower City Prayerbook
* Wand -
* 1-H -
* Offhand -
(Will finish updating later...wowarmory is down and wowhead's currently being updated. Sorry.)

Head:
Whitemend Hood
is a very good choice. You can socket it with three
Lustrous Stars of Elune
for a nice 20MP5.
Prior to this, you could go for the
Watcher's Cowl
, which is available at Revered status with the
Cenarion Expedition
. (Thanks
Aylia
for this out :-) )
If farming reputation bores you, try to get the
Hallowed Crown
from
Harbinger Skyriss
in
The Arcatraz
.
If you have the Reputation, you can also add a
Glyph of Renewal
to it. ;-)
Neck:
You can easily get
Sethekk Oracle's Focus
that is a quest reward from
Brother Against Brother
. If you have the time, you can one day upgrade to
Necklace of Eternal Hope
, which is available for 25
Badges of Justice
.
Shoulders:
If you are a tailor, go for the
Primal Mooncloth Shoulders
, they are quite easy to craft and are very good. If you aren't you could go for
Hallowed Pauldrons
or
Vestia's Pauldrons of Inner Grace
, whatever you prefer.
If your reputation is high enough, you should acquire either a
Greater Inscription of Faith
from the Aldor, or a
Greater Inscription of the Oracle
from the Scryers.
Chest:
Once again, go for the
Primal Mooncloth Robe
if you can create it. If not, the
Hallowed Garments
are a decent alternative. I would go with a
+15 Spirit
enchantment on the Robes, it's very cheap and easily the best for a healing priest.
Waist
Ah, you guessed it,
Primal Mooncloth Belt
. Otherwise, belts are a difficult slot for a holy priest. If you are able to run heroics, go for
Cord of Belief
or
Cord of Sanctification
.
Cloak:
You have quite a lot options here. You can craft yourself a
White Remedy Cape
, or venture into some instances for either
Cloak of the Everliving
,
Cloak of Scintillating Auras
or
Avian Cloak of Feathers
.
If you want to enchant your cloak, i would go for the
Subtlety enchant
.
Wrist:
This is a wasteland. You have to go into heroics for the decent drops actually. You can try to get the
Light Scribe Bands
from heroic
Hellfire Ramparts
, or
Bands of the Benevolent
from heroic
Sethekk Halls
.
As for enchants, you can get
6 MP5
or
+30 Healing
, whatever you prefer, both are not very costly.

Gloves:
Try to get either
Prismatic Mittens of Mending
or the
Hallowed Handwraps
.
If you want to enchant them, i would recommend a
+35 Healing
enchantment.
Legs:
Try to grad the
Pontiff's Pantaloons of Prophecy
, or the priest set,
Hallowed Trousers
.
If you want to enchant them, you have to look for a tailor who can create either
Silver Spellthread
or
Golden Spellthread
, depending on how much money you want to spend.
Boots:
There are a lot of nice healing boots available. You can easily get
Light-Woven Slippers
,
Jeweled Boots of Sanctification
or the
Curate's Boots
from the quest
Fel Embers
. If you can get into heroic Mechanar runs
(everyone is doing them ^^)
you can also cross your fingers for
Boots of the Pious
.
If you want to enchant your boots, go for the
Vitality enchant
. It's quite rare, but not very expansive mat-wise.
Rings:
There are a lot of options, my personal two favorites are
Keeper's Ring of Piety
, available from the quest
Hero of the Brood
, and
Cosmic Lifeband
.
If you are an enchanter yourself, you can enhance your rings with a
+20 Healing
enchant each.
Trinkets:
The
Lower City Prayerbook
and the
Scarab of the Infinite Cycle
are what i still currently use. They are quite potent.
If you want a bit more mana regeneration, you could go for the
Bangle of Endless Blessings
.
Wand:
Soul-Wand of the Aldor
is easy to get and easily the best wand before raiding.
Weapon
: If you go for Staves, you have the
Staff of Divine Infusion
as a World Drop, that is easily bought at the auction house. If your rep with the Scryers is high enough, you can buy yourself a
Seer's Cane
later on. If you are hunting for drops, either try to the the spirit-based
Serpentcrest Life-Staff
, or the MP5-based
Epoch-Mender
.
If you want a smaller weapon,
The Essence Focuser
is a very cheap world drop you can get from your neighbourhood auctioneer.
Questing
may get you the
Ceremonial Kris
. On the side of drops there are
Runed Dagger of Solace
,
Hammer of the Penitent
and
Shockwave Truncheon
from heroic
Shadow Labyrinth
. If you are lucky, and know a nice crafter you could also be able to get your hands on a
Hand of Eternity
. Last, but not least, if you manage to get your Sha'tar reputation to exalted you can buy the
Gavel of Pure Light
, which is very nice.
If you want to enchant your weapon, go for
+81 Healing
or the
Spellsurge
enchantment.
Offhand
: If you do the questchain that ends with
Ally of the Netherwing
you will get
Netherwing Spiritualist's Charm
, a very good healing offhand. If you can't complete the quest i would recommend the
Lamp of Peaceful Repose
.

Hi ^^
first of all, excellent work here DSitC.. really helpful.
Yes, thank you so much!!!!!

Watcher's Cowl
is another decent option for a head piece, since you mentioned that getting primal nethers is a potential concern for you. Other than that, I think DSitC covered it all. Nice post.

I have
Oshu'gun Relic
and
Auslese's Light Channeler
. Is it better to replace them or are they still good?
They are decent. But given the opportunity, i would suggest to upgrade them. I personally prefer trinkets without an on-use effect. Mainly because i always forget them in the stress of a boss encounter. ^^
Getting Revered with the Lower City shouldn't be too hard, and you can then grab the
Lower City Prayerbook
.
Like mentioned, you can go for the
Scarab of the Infinite Cycle
by running the
Black Morass
in the
Caverns of Time
, and
The Botanica
for the
Bangle of Endless Blessings
.

Nice reply DSitc, your contributions to this forum are valued.
Here's the bad news though. I think the this thread has listed the best of pve priest blues. Once my priest got these, he hit a gear wall. Unlike my casters, there are no real PVE upgrades through PVP/badges. They either emphasis stamina or resilience with some +healing/mp5. Pally/PVP stuff imo.
My recommendation is once you gather a nice blue set, find a guild that'll let you do Karazhan with them 1 or 2 nights a week. Trust me, holy priests are extremely valuable in karazhan for healing/cc. There's a *ton* of holy priests upgrades in Karazhan, pretty much every boss. There's a learning curve involved so find a guild that is a bit forgiving/doesn't mind teaching you it.
If you do Karazhan, I'll give you one piece of advice: Use a shackle focus macro! You can find it at wowwiki.com under macros but it allows you to shackle without changing your target. Incredibly useful with Moroes and trash pulls.

DSitC
Yes, i recommend to try Karazhan out, too.
We have a very fun time there, and we are very casual in my opinion. ;-)
Consigering Shackle Macros, i have it split up.
I use a separate macro to set and unset my focus target:
/focus
/clearfocus
Pressing the left mouse button will make my current target my focus, while pressing the right mouse button on the macro will unset my focus entirely.
Shackling is done by this macro:
#showtooltip
/cast Shackle Undead; Shackle Undead
This will check if i have a focus target set, and if it is alive. If so, it will shackle it. If not it will try to cast Shackle Undead on my current target. Very useful if you forget to set your focus. ^^

Don't want to stress you, but could you suggest a couple of the best blue gems for sockets? I'm a bit confused and i can't really decide between +int, +mana/5sec, or +healing.
I saw the Purified Shadow Pearl and it seems very nice even if it has that +spell damage on it.
For blue sockets, I generally go with
Royal Nightseye
. I'd only go with the shadow pearl if you're really into stacking spirit--I know some people are, I'm just not one of them.

Well, that +spelldmg comes from the normal re-evaluation of +healing items Blizzard did in Patch 2.3, so it's a healers gem for sure.
To answer your question, if you have the money, you could go for
Royal Nightseyes
,
Purified Shadow Pearls
,
Lustrous Stars of Elune
or
Sparkling Stars of Elune
. It depends what you want to stockpile most.
