The thing that bothers me most about playing my shaman is, when other shamans in a 5 man dungeon lay the exact same totems i do. There are no other players in the game that misunderstand the shaman like CRAPPY shaman players.
one way of looking at this, is that YOU are putting down the same totems as them.
a little communication between shammies goes a long way.

This. If you're playing with a similar-specced Shaman and they aren't changing their totems, then you change yours. There's a reason why we were given 3 combinations for "Call of" drops. Have them set up with your common combinations (mine are Caster Buffs/Melee Buffs/PVP) and you shouldn't have to mess with them any further than that.
Better to lead by example for the class than to have another inexperienced player give it a bad name (not as bad as the stigma of Hunters, but I digress).

Also I've been getting more and more cheesed off when I'm in a heroic and a pull goes bad. I drop my earth elemental totem and keep him healed after tank dies so that the elemental can tank. Then everyone cheers the balance druid for it. WTF... do they honestly think that druids have elementals helping them when they can shapeshift?
wow.... never had that happen... But have had the healing 1 all the time. Best is when you spam "Elem shaman" they ask for heals, then tell you how to heal while still elemental. I didn't know that i could cast Earth shield in any spec, or that chain heal is great with all that handy spell DMG buffing we get.

The most underused shaman totem imo.

Orly? That's one of the few resistance totems I use with some frequency.

You combine one of the most complicated classes with one of the lowest player bases and you wind up with a massive lack of understanding. It's that simple.
They are also the least selfish of any dps class. They sacrifice their own dps to increase the overall groups dps and survivability. This is a concept that a lot of dps has trouble wrapping their selfish head around.
whoa,whoa,whoa
I'm sorry, i thought you said utility is always more important than DPS and anyone who disagrees is selfish.
I'm sure you'd like to rephrase that but I, for one, would rather have one shaman and everyone else a strong DPS class.
And they dont 'sacrifice' anything, look a few threads up and youll see an ele/enh shammy pwning the **** out of everyone in PvP. Kitties have +5% crit chance, all i'll need unless i come up against Hadronox or something with constant poision

Also, when I'm playing as elemental, if I have to drop a earthbind totem and suddenly all of the mobs get rooted, somenoe calls out that they didn't know druids could mass root everyone. I have to tell them that that was the totem, and it isn't really the same effect as a druid's roots.
Oh, but druids
can
mass root
=)
No they can't. The buff disappears as soon as the first mob gets struck by it. It doesn't root everyone who hits you. Hence "1 charge".
