Hot Shots 1 and 2 are some of the best movies ever made. They even feature a pre-crazy Charlie Sheen!

Recent Fury =/= Mainstream Fury
Post by
Hyperspacerebel
Thing is though, the Marvel Verse movies are based on the Ultimate version, so it made sense to have him black this time...that and you know, the main stream Fury now has a holographic body model that is SLJ heh.
I wasn't actually talking about the movies. I was simply talking about the Ultimate reboot in 2000 which featured Nick Fury as a black man after being a white man for 40 years in the Earth-616 continuity.
Recent Fury =/= Mainstream Fury
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Who is "Recent Fury" and who is "Mainstream Fury"?

Recent Fury is the one depicted in recent years by the comic books, mainstream Fury is the classic version that all the fans recognize.
For example, mainstream Osborn is the green Goblin, not the leader of the Tunderbolts or Iron Patriot. And mainstream Venom will always be Eddie Brock, not Mac Gargan or Flash Thompson.

Both Earth-616 and the Ultimate Universe are both still running concurrently. Calling one of them "mainstream" doesn't really make sense. In fact, if anything, 616 is both the classic and the mainstream universe.

I wasn't comparing the Ultimate and 616 Marvel verse, I was responding to what Adam said about the current 616 Fury having the SLJ body model, (not to mention the secret black Samuel L Jackson looking son who shares his name and has now replaced him).
I was just saying that
this
is always going to be the classic/mainstream/whatever Nick Fury.
Not that I have a problem with Jackson's portrayal, he killed it. I just wouldn't call the current 616's attempt to capitalize on the movies "mainstream".

Aye, characters change in the Mainstream verse, that's just the facts of life when it comes to comics.

Anybody got any preemptive thoughts or predictions on Man of Steel?

Looks like it'll be a decent Superman movie. Better than Superman Returns, at least.

Don't say Boondock Saints like that. There wont be another Boondock Saints. (the sequel gives me nightmares)
It's a tight race between my love of Willem Dafoe in the first movie and my hatred of Julie Benz in the second one. I don't know what they were thinking.

Slight spoiler for Amazing Spider Man 2
That's if they match it up with the comics, down to the clothes.

Nope. He may be posing in a similar scene, but it's obviously not the same. In the comics the Green Goblin throws her off a bridge, Spiderman catches her but then finds out she was already dead. The comic picture you linked is him cradling her body and raising his fist swearing vengeance on the Goblin. The movie picture is obviously him swinging with her on a web.
Plus they already announced the villains for the next movie are the Rhino and Shocker. Gwen will probably die in the third movie with the Goblin.

Finally found a way to watch Wolf Children.
It's worth it. Since there's no way to really get it atm, just torrent it and pray they sell it internationally. I will be buying a copy if they do.
