Hey, whats wrong with showing another decent mmorpg on the front page? Wowhead isnt owned by Blizzard or anything.
I know that I like to have this skin better than have a skin for viagra.

I was just surprised more than anything. It looks like the WAR team is really spending some bucks and putting out a lot of ads in a lot of places. It's nothing new as I've been seeing Eve Online and Everquest II ads on this site for a while now. This one is just bigger. Besides, it's on the front page, where you spend all of 5 seconds before you click on Forum or type in a search.
Like I said, I just thought it was a little weird the first time I saw it. It's certainly nothing to get upset about. If someone is going to let a front page advertisement control their WoW information gathering habits then so be it.
The outrage is pretty funny though. I certainly can't explain it any better than the Greens/Blues/Pinks have. Some people just won't understand the reasoning.
By the way, the Dwarf's belt looks like it would drop in Ulduar.

I really hate the ad for Warhammer.. It makes clicking the top links almost impossible... And I'm not about to fight a stupid ad just to click a link..
Instead, I've decided to use Adblockplus & BlockSite (both firefox addons) to block that crap out.
Adblockplus gets rid of the Warhammer full page skin. BlockSite gets rid of the full page link to Warhammer so I can click links again without being redirected to warhammer's crappy site.
If I wanted to play Warhammer, I'd play it. It looks like crap, the friends who've tried it hated it, and so I have no interest in playing it. I don't appreciate having it shoved in my face.

I'm far more fascinated by the people that seem to regard a WAR add on Wowhead as moral effrontery, it's like a cross between Coke/Pepsi rivalry, British football clubs and over stimulated children.
I find it especially interesting that, aside from the OP and a handful of others, the complaints are mainly from people with very low post counts. Not necessarily new members, although some are (and that's just funny, that their outrage is so great that it... forced them to register for the site they now find so abhorrent...), some are members for literally years, but who never posted anything. Hmm, provocative.
I mean, seriously, WAR is a totally PvP centric game, WoW is, well, let's be realistic, not. It's not illogical that there may be some crossover for people who like elements of both (full disclosure, I have subscriptions to both).
On the other hand, as I type this I am looking at, on the side of my page, an add for Peebles department store. I dunno, from the complaints on here this seems like a slap in the face to some Wowhead users, as it mocks them with the prospect of actual human interaction and tantalizes them with moderately attractive women dressed in mid-level retail fashions. Have you no shame Wowhead?

There's nothing like going to Wowhead to look up a quest and find yourself being yelled at by a retarded looking, half-naked, WAR Dwarf. Not to mention that Orc-like-thing that seems like it really wants someone to play it's game, brb, WoWDB.

I much prefer this to pictures of some fat person's gut before they lost weight, or a giant blinking ad mocking my unimaginably small genitalia and inability to pleasure the opposite sex.

My only real complaint is the sheer size of the ad. One of my favorite things about this website is the clean and efficient design, and having a huge full-page advertisement that breaks the look as well as nearly cover up entirely links at the top is just ... well, wrong.
Advertise WAR or whatever all you want. At the least, just make sure it's not in the way of pertinent links or information and actually fits with your overall site design.
