How would you get your pet to target a friendly target? Or does the spell mean the hunter's target? Spell description looks a bit weird to me.

A pet target works very similarly to a focus. You can macro abilities, both your own and your pets, like this:
/cast *spell*
/cast *spell*
I know THAT part...but read
the spell
- It says that the PET'S target gets the same immunity to movement imparing effects as the pet. I have never seen a hunter pet target anything but the mob it's fighting...so why would I want to make whatever I'm fighting immune to my frost traps/caster's roots/whatever? I see how this would be useful if my pet gets rooted, but what good is that secondary effect? I see no practical use for it, if it can only work on my enemies.

Does the roots by any chance target the affected player? 'Cause in that case one could create a macro that would target the roots and the the target of the roots and cast the spell. Just a though.

But this is why im having issues I have to target the player to have this work. In freya +3 its hectic enough, add to that to find and target the ensnared player. I thought there would be a way since DBM can detract who has been ensnared...so there is some mechanics going on in the background that can know who is ensnared.
I can make a macro to target the roots, but no the player in the roots.
Perhaps coming from another direction, many unit frames, and certainly Grid in particular, can be configured to display a graphic over the frame of a player afflicted by or buffed by some specific aura. You could configure them to display the roots
debuff
so that you can easily identify who to target with Master's Call.
Think that might work?

that what i was thinking, but it doesn't target them it seems, it does have a dot
Im trying a mouse over macro but its not working like i would like
/cast Master's Call
/cast Master's Call
/cast Master's Call
Try this instead (mouseover has to be the first conditions to work):
/cast Master's Call
