I understand the responses from those who think it's unlikely due to the amount of work involved (I'm one of them.) However, why exactly would you not want to see it happen?

Azshara? you mean Azeroth also ALOT of coding will go into it we would be able to fly over Hyjal and all different places which i dont think blizz want us to fly over
I remind you, of what they did with Black Temple. Flown over that lately?
Additionally, why not let players fly there? The zone is already created, all that is needed is to pack it with hundreds of close-spaced elite undead to smash anyone who goes near. Stick a couple Frostwyrms in the air with some bats etc.
I agree. No flying mounts at 60, there's no need.
Plus it would be hard to grind for enough money if the prices were still the same.
Wouldn't that also mean no need for ground mounts at 60?
There wouldnt be much point as most people would ignore ground mounts for the time being and go for the flying mounts.
I think the way it is is fine, it also means that players have enough things to look forward to, rather than get it all at once.
Who said anything about level 60? Keep the same gold requirement with the same level requirement.... or perhaps an even higher riding skill requirement. (10,000g sink anyone?)

As a whole, the zones in Northrend and Outlands are much larger and more epic than Azeroth. To allow flying mounts in the old world would take away the unique feeling that it has. It would open up too many unwanted possibilities. The old country should be experienced from the ground and, occasionally, from a trained gryphon or bat.
Not to mention could you imagine the ease of ganking lowbies if people could fly around at 310% speed without worrying about any real barriers? Madness. Sparta.

only mammals who can fly is bats so far i know. There is squirrels who can air hoover but they do not really fly they just more like jump with a parachute:)
Bats also consist of 1/4 of all recorded mammals so it a big group.
To the idea of flying mounts in azeroth: just plain no, i do not like them. They ruined the exploration experience in wow. So i do not like that because i want some stuff still be a bit hard.

IT would be great but Blizzard is lazy.
Exactly.
Or... They have a ton of other stuff to put focus on... Like improving current content and making new content.
This would require a complete rewrite of the code for the Old World, so not thanks. I'd rather they put their time into other things.
Really it's unimportant in my opinion. I never had trouble getting around the Old World on a ground mount, and I've discovered everything for "The Explorer" title/tabard. It wasn't that bad.
Just my opinion though.
