if you're not a deep frost spec, then your biggest form of survivability is crushing your opponent before he knows what the hell happened, and if some random shaman you didn't see catches you casting a FFB, and hits you with an earth shock, then all you can do is blink away or invis and hope no one else notices you for the next 6 seconds.
Casting FFB while there are enemies capable of interrupting around is fail.
Casting FFB in any other situation than 1vs1 and enemy is polied or disoriented is fail as well.
Casting it on non melee opponent is also fail.
You dont need FFB for damage, its purely for the snare effect. Lucky crit is just a bonus.
FFB is pvp is in 95% cases fail. Scorch owns.
Also Earth shock sucks. Wind shear is better and doesnt share cd with other shocks.

Fire/Frost is a good combination against melee's, but leaves much to be desired against caster's. My build uses Fire/Arcane

picking up Improved Counterspell, abdicating Fireball and using Frostfire bolt, this build and well balanced making the mage fire remains higher time in pvp with a larger mana regeneration. Excellent against more than one target. Another good option is to use Glyph of Blink, as the fire mage has a large range. :]

Frosfire bolt against casters? Have you read the above discussion?
Its plain suicide. Interrupt gets you locked out of both fire and frost school, and FFB is interruptable by blind 5yo ebayer with 1.5k latency.

The mage will use the so Frostfire bolt inside the Dragon's Breath disorient, or knowing that the target is in cooldown in silence, he would have to be stupid enough to try casting knowing that the opponent has a guarded silence. And even if it happens it still has the arcane school to escape.
