Lol, nice Squish; I routinely trounce him in Dissidia, and since 012 adds in the Support and I have Aerith, I do combo attacks that let her strike him too lol.

It helps that my characters had health in the 7500-9999 range. I seem to recall in my first attempt, only one of my characters was up over 5000, meaning that I had to time my Shell / magic barrier perfectly to avoid getting one-shotted from full HP.
I still don't get walkthroughs that tell you "all you need to do is keep using
<insert completely overpowered spell/summon that takes longer and is harder to obtain than just finishing the damn game without it>
and you'll win easily".
Wait, just checking, you've played FF7 before, right?(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

Well it's true; a fully maxed out Knights of the Round or Bahamut Zero, then just mime the $%^& out of it, you'll finish off Bizarro Seph in no time flat; same with Safer.
Only time it's not is against the Ruby Weapon heh.
Wait, just checking, you've played FF7 before, right?Squish, except for Legend and Mystic Quest, I have copies of pretty much every single Final Fantasy game lol.

Just checking, lol.
I just don't see the point of running around and collecting Mime and KotR - it takes you a hundred times longer to train a damn gold chocobo than it does to just... strategise.

100% completion man, that's what FF games are all about.

That's like running heroics until you're ilvl390+ geared, and only then going to kill the
Lich King
. =P
I dunno, I get a sense of pride in taking out final bosses using awesome strategy and tactics and doing more with less, rather than grinding up and having a completely overpowered set of guys where I can spam the X button and win.
On a slightly unrelated side note, I actually drew from FFXIII strategies to take on Sephiroth. FFXIII taught me that it's perfectly OK to spend the entire first combat round on pure buffs (i.e. Wall-All, Regen-All, Haste-All), and switch to pure healing (i.e. Esuna-All, Cure3-All, Cure3-All, everybody back to full health and fully restored) after a massive attack. People complain about not being able to beat the final boss in FFXIII or that he's too hard if they haven't been grinding non-stop - I just switch to a Salvation paradigm =P(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

And? It's fun to unlock all the big stuff before you go up against the last boss: I mean, look at Kefka's final battle; you fight up the tower, defeat the Goddesses, then for the fun of it, throw the Atma Weapon at Kefka and win as it deals beyond max damage and one hit kills him lol....and if you do the item duplicate trick, you can toss Atma Weapons at each of the Goddesses and do the same heh.
But really, depending on the game, it makes sense to max it out: Espers in 6 gave great stat bonuses, as did Junctioning in 8. 9 had it worthwhile to do endless weapon/armour grinds to get the extra abilities. It was fun in 10 to unlock the entire sphere grid for all characters, same with the board for 12 heh. And I plan to unlock all levels of the Grid for 13 and 13-2 ^_^.

I dunno, I don't think one-shotting is really that fun though.
Junctioning in 8 isn't really maxing it out - running around and picking up all of the top GFs is. I died endlessly to Ultimecia because I was underpowered, playing conventionally, fighting through stage 1, stage 2, eventually getting to stages 3 and 4 and getting smashed... so it forced me to change my game strategy - rejigged high-damage-only magic on Rinoa, popping Aura and getting her into her limit break as soon as the battle starts, then basically sitting back and letting her unleash magical hell (Meteor was hitting 5-6k x 10 ticks per cast) while the other two guys just healed non-stop.
There's more to be said for clever junctioning than for grinding out 300 of every type of magic out there.
Oh well, just a difference in opinion. I mostly play for the main plot, rather than 100% completion.
And re: unlocking everything in FF13, you'll be there for a long time. The secondary grids are *very* expensive. =P(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

FFXIII-2 came in much earlier than expected!
The only problem was, of course, that on the night it came in, I was rushing to the airport for a last minute trip to Melbourne... -_-;;
I've got three days before I need to go interstate again, but I don't think I'll have time, and my girlfriend will kill me if I start first.

Hahaha, well I'm still procrastinating and haven't finished 13 yet so...=P.

Where are you up to?

Beat down the Cid analog of the game, and heading up from the Ark.

Ohh, you're there!
Okay, fair enough. You've got a LOT of grinding to do to hit full completion :P
Funnily enough, that's the same place that my brother has stopped at, and hasn't moved from for a while as well. He's given up though, and started FFXIII-2, which is symptomatic of the fact he hasn't finished any FF game :P(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

Lol, I'm gonna finish it, it's just there are some things in WoW I want to do right now, and some TV shows to watch(used to have a TV just for gaming systems, but that died a while ago).
And yeah I know there's still a lot to go(all of Gran Pulse heh), but I'm enjoying it.

I don't doubt that you will :)

'Sides, I want to see if what happened to Lightning to put her in the alternate time line is referenced or not heh.

Without giving too much away, I'm pretty sure I've already said that I was disappointed by the ending of FFXIII...
Flipping through the manual for FFXIII-2 though, it's looking promising. I'm still disappointed by the removal of Limit Breaks.
