FFB to FireTTW - Enough hit to do well or shall I stick with FFB?

I'm curently FFB and raid mostly 10man content with 25man when there are enough guildies online.
I like FFB as it provides a nice all round spec. However although my Hit is nearly enough (334, our our healer is a Draenai Shaman) I think my crit is far too low (34% with Mage Armor) because the DPS seems quite inconsistent. One week I'll do well and top the meters, then next week on the exact same boss with no gear or group changes I lose 500-700dps and come second or third. I assume this can only be tied into the RNG nature of FFB.
If I swap a few gear items around I can get 389 Hit which I know based on the FAQs is still low, but would it be enough to do just as well as I do with FFB?
I'm looking to swap:
-
Heroes' Frostfire Leggings
with
Legwraps of the Defeated Dragon
This will give me a small hit boost and access to a Blue Gem socket which will keep my Meta working for the second swap. This also will break the 4 piece set bonus of the Frostfire set. Not sure how big a loss that is.
-
Sandals of Crimson Fury
Xintor's Expeditionary Boots
Obvious loss of Haste, but will give me a nice Hit boost. The Blue Gem loss is replaced on the leggings above.
I'm currently still using
Ebonweave Robe
for the Hit boost although I do have
Heroes Frostfire Robe
.
I'm still waiting for the
Dying Curse
and
Heigan's Putrid Vestments
to drop :(
I do have enough honor for the PvP Cloak with Hit on, but not sure how good that is. Or any of the other PvP Hit items for that matter...
I use Rawr to work out which pieces are good for me, but it rates the Hit items poorly so I'm never too sure if something works out an upgrade or not sometimes.
The rest of my gear should be in my Armory (Sig) providing it's working and updated.

Yeah very true.
I've got access to some nice gear, but to get the full 420 needed for FireTTW I'm going having to either equip PvP Hit Gear or Heroic blues. Even with the changes in the first post I'm still 30 hit short of the cap. While I wouldn't worry about 5 or even 10 Hit shot, 30 is still quite a lot.
It might just be me, but I find that in the 10man content there is a lack of Epic quality Hit gear. Sure there are blues and pvp hit items, but personally I'd feel a bit n00bed if I have to put those on just to raid. That's why I've stuck with FFB for now.
Now my guild have started 25mans more often it'll be easier, but before I pretty much had every piece of Epic PvE Hit gear I could have.

Nope, I get no love. I've got a Draenei healer and that's about it. We do have Boomkins and Shadow Priests but are DPS spots are that full on 10mans that they usually go Healing instead.
I even think out Boomkin is that badly spec'd that even if he was to come as DPS, I seriously doubt he'd have the +hit talent in his spec.

then, to be brutally honest, you or someone else should tell that boomkin to l2spec..
seriously.. improved faerie fire is good for the entire raid, as well as himself.. for him, it means he doesn't have to gem/enchant/gear for that extra 3% of hit rating. for the DPS (melee AND casters alike) it means the same thing. for the tanks, it means that they've got more chance to hit their target every time (since most tanking gear isn't hit-centralized) which turns into more threat. for the healers, if the tank is building more threat that means an easier job for them since they don't have to worry about the DPS pulling aggro quite as easily.
if no one in the raid is covering improved faerie fire or misery (from a shadow priest)... and there's a boomkin in the group that doesn't have it, he needs a severe talking to.

I dunno, the Boomkin is healer most of the time so I've never really paid too much attention. I never see him apply it when he does DPS. Which is odd as it's 3% hit+crit to himself also.
It's the group makeup that's kept me as FFB or Arcane. That 3% hit is very much needed in the 10mans if you don't have access to 25man gear. Without going for PvP or Blue Hit gear the 420 Hit Cap for FireTTW is very much out of reach if you don't have Draenai, Moonkin or SP in 10man content.

i dunno..
my mage
runs about 13.6%-ish gear with gear, (i know it says lower... armory cached with him wearing his PvP gear) and running 10 mans without a boomkin/SPriest (i do too) I only end up missing about 5 times for a whole raid in the Fire/TTW spec. it's really relative. maybe you could find some hit rating food to make up for some of the missing percentage.

I'll propbably stick to FFB for the time being. I'll have more loot from Naxx25 and Uld at some point. Plus FFB isn't exactly awful. I like the flexability it gives too. Great Single Target, Good AoE and Awesome Mana.

Just to add to my Hit woes, we only have three Draenei players that raid and usually neither of them are in my group usually so sometimes even in FFB I tend to need the full hitcap :p
I do alright though -

I also swear by Scorchio2 along with PowerAuras for HotStreak (although Scorchio doesn't that too now!)

The focus magic switch trick was hotfixed. You can buff and switch, but as soon as they crit the buff vanishes.

Ahh I didn't see it addressed in the notes other then they were aware of it... I guess I didn't read the most updated version...
Now that I got my hit trinket I guess I'll go back to FB :D
Damn you! I want that trinket :P
I'm still FFB for the moment. Although I can probably get over 400 hit, it'll hurt to many other stats I think.

Healers are fine for the FM as long as it's a crit based healer. My personal fave is a Holy Paladin. That buff has near 100% uptime on a Holy Pala :p
Scorch shouldn't really hurt your dps too much unless you let the stack expire.
