This isn't the Blizzard forums... people here expect politeness.
Come to Rogue forums, peeps will rip you to shreds! :>
I'm a Hunter who frequently tops the damage in Ulduar for my guild
There is always a possibility of your guild not being competent. So saying "I'm the best DPS in my guild" and claiming to be imba is a groundless claim.

Well, listen to yourself. You already said that your mage is JC/Enchanting. I am going to assume that your mage is your main toon. So, if it is, that's where your main focus should be. Really, I have four 80s, (I have been playing since the game's release) and my Warlock, (first toon) and my Paladin, (Heals/Tank) are the only two characters I care about. I also have a Melee DPS Warrior and a PvP Death Knight. I have raided with all four, but only care about my first two toons.
In your situation, you have a Mage and a Hunter. Both are dps, so if one is better than the other, what's the problem? They are both very bursty DPS classes and can easily top the DPS meters simply on how good of a player you are and how good your gear is.
Honestly, anyone with at least decent knowledge of this game will tell you that Player/Skill > Class. Warlocks, for example, are often on the top of the DPS meters. I know I am. I can easily pull 6K in raids and even 5K on test dummies with just my buffs when I do my rotation perfectly. However, Warlocks are indeed good, but there's players who have had semi-equal, if not better gear than me, same spec and everything, and I can out DPS them with ease because I actually know my class.
Really, the ring enchants and extra gems aren't going to boost your dps that much.
Basically, what I am saying, your mage is JC/Enchanting, he's also your main, which is a good thing. I would rather my main get that next upgrade than my alt get his first epic anyday, put it in those terms. My Warlock is JC/Enchanting, but every other toon I have is something else profession wise to get me through the game. Like Blacksmithing and Gathering profs for money.
Don't worry so much about if you're ontop of the DPS meters. Any raid leader is going to notice that you're up there and be impressed with you, regardless of your professions.
