imo, enchanting is not worth that extra 46 spellpower... (23sp/ring)
or anything else it may give.
so expensive to level if u got no greens for mats..

Is someone holding a gun to your head and demanding that you get Jewelcrafting and Enchanting?
Do you only enjoy yourself when your name is on the top of the dps charts? If so, then that's an entirely different problem you need to work on.

I've got multiple friends in-game who are neither enchanters nor jewelcrafters who regularly top the DPS meters. The profession-specific bonuses aren't enough by themselves to make or break your DPS. There are some imbalances between what the professions offer you, but the few BoPs you get from them aren't going to significantly shift your performance
that
much.

This, if don't want / have to do it - don't.

Get a dps class to 80 and give your opinion then.
Actually, I've got a whole set of i213 and higher Ret gear that I use quite often, so I'm no stranger to dps. Nice try.

This in your profile :
Shadaelm - 80 Human Holy Paladin
Sarahmin - 70 Human Shadow Priest
Zathyr - 70 Night Elf Beast Mastery Hunter
Seraphim, Earthen Ring RP Server
Get a dps class to 80 and give your opinion then.
Level 80 Enhancement Shaman here, as well as a level 80 DK (first was a level 80 Paladin, Tank/Heals).
To give my opinion: You're wrong, it's absolutely not necessary, and your response there makes me pretty certain that you're trolling. It doesn't take a genius - or a level 80 DPS class - to know that what you're saying is in
your
head; there isn't a single profession that will make or break your DPS output.

Get a dps class to 80 and give your opinion then. What a dumb thing to say. I knew more about my class at 40 then a lot 80s in raiding guilds. Level doesn't mean anything.

I know what the OP is feeling. I kinda feel the same way on my character (Ele/Resto dual spec shammy).
I've held off though because until I end up with a full set of each pure heal and pure dps gear I don't think the extra 46 sp is going to matter much.

It's not going to matter much even once you get those full sets. Read what we're saying: It's not going to make or break you regardless of what profession you take.
