My sister and I usually level together. We've levelled a rogue/warrior combo (no downtime...stuff dies
fast
), a paladin/hunter combo (tankadin for most stuff, healadin+pet tank for group stuff), and a druid/hunter combo.
Again, there's no real wrong combo. Just both pick something you'll enjoy (helps if you pick races that start in the same area, but not essential) and blitz the levels together. Given the solo questing is specifically designed to be done solo, it won't really matter at all what classes you choose.

Well pretty much every combo works well together while leveling togeather like that (Considering most quests are ment to be done solo) So my advice would be to read up on each class and figure what ones you want to play and just roll with w/e you like.
However 2 casters can be a bit tougher then melee+whatever so if your looking for the best combos keep that in mind.
Obviously having any class that can heal helps a bit to keep down time at a minimum.
Also hunters + Healer/caster dps is awesome becouse the pets are beasts at tanking with a healer and hunters dont have down time (mana isent a big deal when your pet is tearing ^&*! up) So that gives the healer to drink up while hunter continues to chain pull.
But pretty much any combo will work just fine (You dont want to get stuck with an 80 you dont like to play just because it was easier to level at the time.)

tauren man...FOR THE HORDE!

Im horde biased so im gonna say Tauren. The only downside is the starting area for the Tauren sucks...its a constant back and forth gathering stuff for the quests.

Thanks to all for the input. Druid/Druid it is! Last but not least Tauren or Night Elf?
I'd just like to point out that if you change your mind and go Druid/Paladin you can remove all 4 debuffs; poisons, diseases, magic, and curses. That just leaves you with bleeds but with two classes that can heal, meh.
Minor, but something to consider.
Also, you can stack buffs, not overlap with two druids.
Edit: Go Horde.

I say a tanking class and healing class. I've found that in low level Azeroth dungeons, all the way up to Sunken Temple, gear and spec doesn't really matter for tanking and healing.
For example, my warrior was able to tank fine by just being in defensive stance and using a shield, and my priest was able to heal specced as shadow. Healing might be harder for classes not already in caster gear, though.
If you decide to go DPS, certain classes compliment each other. Feral druids, warriors, hunters, and enhancement shamans can all buff each other, and balance druids, mages, priests, and elemental shamans compliment each other too. Pretty much any combo of caster or melee classes.
I think it's great that you guys play together.

Night Elf, they just look great :)
Also if you have the least bit of love for the Alliance you'll feel more comfortable. All I see on Horde is hate for the Alliance.
Ahh the wonders of being mature. Or being taller than 5 feet 10, not sure which.
That's odd, all I see on both factions is hate for the other, along with claims of the other faction being children, immature, jerks, unable to play, etc.
OP: Roll both races, try them both out and then stick with the one you prefer. Have fun!

Because the Alliance loves the Horde all of a sudden.
I play Horde and I'm 6'6". Lucky for your little criteria I'm also dreadfully immature.
