I haven't been raiding much over the past few weeks with my guild, but last night I did Naxx25 with them. I found out about a new loot system they are using. It goes as follows: You can only roll mainspec on your "main armor type", Anything else that you
can
use, even if it would be an upgrade for your main spec, counts as an offspec roll. For example: If a cloth piece drops that has Spirit and haste(stats that are important for resto druids and holy priests) the priest gets priority on it because they can only use cloth while the druid can use leather.
What do you all think of this? They claim it is fair because now a Pali, Shaman or Druid can't roll on something that a clothie needs.
I personally think it is unfair to everyone except the clothies, who it benefits. Druids share a LOT of itemization with cloth items and leather often is less common to drop than cloth, yet now druids in my guild will be pretty much shafted except for those few leather piece that drop while the clothies will become even more geared. Also, when my guildy was explaining it to me, they said that now Shamans and Palis wont be rolling on leather that I could use. Thing is, Shamans and Palis have COMPLETLY different itemization than druids. In my opinion this new system was created by the guild leader, who is a mage, to give himself more benefit on loot.
What are your opinions on this? I wanna see how others feel about it before going and talking to him and finding out I'm the only person in the entire world who thinks it just favors clothies.

So it's fair that Clothies have to roll against Druids, Shamans, and Pallys, while Pallys get all the plate to themselves? Clothies having priority on cloth, Druids on Leather, and Shamys on Mail is completely fair. Why should I have to fight off five classes for a peice of cloth SP/Hit gear while when mail SP/Hit gear drops a shaman is going to be the only one who needs it anyway?

I had a similar system in my guild for BC. It was mainly put in place because of the low amount of cloth items that dropped, with a high amount of cloth wearers in raids. In the end, it all evened itself out and there wasn't any bickering because the people in the raid knew when an item would have been better for someone else, and if it would've bettered the guild/raid as a whole.
I'd imagine the same would be for WotLK. Speaking from a GMs perspective... try to not make a huge deal out of an issue like this. In the end, it will probably work itself out and be better for the guild in the long run. Evening out gear between all of the raiders is one of the things that will help a guild progress.
And have trust in your GM :) Not everyone may like their rules, but most are only out to better their guilds. If you think he did it to only better himself and not the guild, then I'd bring it up with all of the officers.

I dont like giving cloth to druids when a clothie would also benefit, because sooner or later, that cloth is going to be replaced with leather, and then the clothie is *!@# outa luck and has to wait for it to drop again next week, or 2 weeks. otherwise its fair to say shammies can roll on leather

^^^ This is the reason people put those rules into effect. I don't necessarily agree with it 100%, but that's the reason.
