Epic flying not as valuable

With the flying mount speed buffed to 150%, I'm not even gonna bother with epic flying. It used to feel like your mount was crawling through mud, but now that it goes reasonably fast, I have decided to save my gold for better things.
What can 5kg (4kg if exalted) buy you?
-a Nobles deck
-pretty much any BOE epic
-a little more than a third of a chopper
-pretty much all of the best enchants for your new T9 gear
-
Disgusting Oozeling
(consistently sells for 5kg, still trying to figure out who in their right mind would buy it)
-power level a profession to 450 (most cost about 5kg)
-epic gems for all your gear slots

310% speed will net you more cash over time to make up for the 4k gold. It's not like you have a fixed amount of gold.
So your list of items that you can buy with gold becomes the same, but one week later, AND you'll have epic flying.

Why would you want a 1/3rd of a chopper instead of 280% flying?

It's basically the same concept that used to exist with druids passing on their 60% mounts and using travel form for another 20 levels. I say keep your not as bad 150% flight for now, get the better gear with your gold then use that better gear to get your mount.
Unless your epic mount is an F15 you can take into a boss fight the gear you can buy for that price will be much more beneficial in getting you invites hence gold/even better gear/future invites.

yeah until you don't get invited to group quests that involve travel because you can't keep up. 280% flight is still needed, just not at 77 anymore.
has this ever really happened to anyone? If so, that is just sad =[
"k guys, lets all mount up and get to the next obj, server is going down in 5 mins'!"
"Should take us 3 mins to get there, 2 for the quest. we'll just make it"
"sorry guys, got the regular flyer. it'll take me 4 mins to get there =["
"THOSE WHO FALL BEHIND GET LEFT BEHIND"

Epic is 280%. 20% more if you are a Paladin or Unholy Death Knight, but I don't think its 310. Only flyers that are 310% are the special arena flying mounts, unless something's changed.
As for the OP...I never even bothered to buy a "regular" 60% mount for my Paladin or Warlock. I was lucky enough to go straight for the epic when they hit 70. With my DK being able to fly at level 60 I'm quite happy to have the 150% flying for his time in Outlands but by the time he's 70 he'll have the gold to buy an epic..so why not? I consider that a much more worthy investment than 1/3 of a chopper, especially since he's a miner and an epic will enable him to farm even more efficiently, so I'll be able to afford the epic flyer AND all the nice gems and enchants.
I have two 80s and one 77 and they all have epic flyers and gold has never been a problem for buying the other stuff. 280% is still almost twice as fast as 150% and there is a noticeable difference.

I use 310% because that is the potential for purchasing the epic flight. You can see 280% as the same concept.

I feel that epic flying for those without gathering professions is for the most part worthless.
I'm not paying that 4k in order to see how fast I can fly into ulduar from the flightmaster. I have the money, and I could buy it, but I don't see the point since I have no mining or herbalism.

I find myself not playing alts that don't have epic flying.
It adds up over time.

Unless your epic mount is an F15 you can take into a boss fight .
I hear that High Overlord Saurfang has one of those mounts.
Still Roflmaoing ..........ah the tears ......
also..... agreed 100% with the OP. I was debating to buy it on my mining paladin who has 11k gold. Even with the changes making it cheaper, it's not worth it.
You may think it isnt worth it but you will see when you have peopel with epic mounts beating you to Titanium nodes and crap.
