There's not really any mail-caster loot until Outlands, I'm afraid. Else you're pretty much forced to use leather / cloth.

I'd recommend going those last ~12 levels until you get there, and then make the change.

i have been elemental since level 10, and its loads of fun. i did try enhancement for 10 levels in between, but missed ele a lot, so recpec'd :P

its tought to get gear, especially at lower levels. but at 46+, you can expect to get some mail and leather items.

see my armory page (in my sig), i got some decent level 50+ leather and mail from brd, just my weapon sucks.

about spells: , lightning bolt , lightning bolt , lightning bolt lightning bolt ... and few shocks and chains in between,,

while leveling, thats the best rotation IMO. it rocks, and with few good totems, you will have lot of fun, and do some uber damage.
