Dungeons and Dragons on Wowhead

I just thought of something that could potentially be fun - playing a game of dungeons and dragons on a wowhead thread. Sure, it doesn't have the face to face factor of really playing a game, but I still think it could be fun. I would start up a session, but since I've never played real dungeons and dragons before, I don't know how good of a dungeon master I could be.
Just throwing that out there, how does wowhead population feel about this?

I would love to too, but I've also never played actual D&D. But I
have
played every D&D based computer game in existence.

I'm all for it, but for lack of time to be anything other than minor character, and I agree entirely with staying away from 4th ed.
The only problem is that it's difficult to force the pace online. As a GM in the past, I've found it beneficial to force players into taking their actions in smaller spaces of time so that they're not spending a split second in game, taking several hours in RL to plan a strategy using simulations and game theory :P Making them lose their action if they don't tell you what they're doing in the space of a couple of minutes is good like that.

Pen and Paper Games are meant to be played face to face, it's just how they work, and were never really intended to play out over long distances.
That being said, the only way a DnD session would really work online would be via IRC or a vent channel.
A forum board just wouldn't work all too well.
An alternative, would be for some people to roll characters, give said characters to the DM and the DM just do a RP story with them, having them go through dungeons. The DM could also roll battles against actual DnD enemies, and do things that way.
Yeah, you're probably right.

Once I was part of a somewhat bigger project that was really fun. Three friends of mine gathered, built a big story and invited around 30 people they knew to play. It was a player made continent, where each player should create his character based on that world and we would play in a Forum they created just fo that. One of those free forums you find anywhere, it was InvisionFree I think.
It was pretty nice, each area of the forum was a specific City/Forest/Area of the map and with Admin powers the DMs blocked/opened posting/reading on those parts of the Forums for the players who entered or left those areas. Let's say you leave The Forest of Doom and get into the City of Arabel, the DMs blocked you from the Forum Area of the Forest and opened your access to Arabel. This way you didn't know what was hapening in the places your character wasn't.
They also left the players pretty much free to do whatever they wanted without their supervision all the time, if there was an action that needed their presence the players would have to wait for one of them to show up and Master it. In every Area each character had his own Topic with his name, there was a topic for each Specific Location of the said Area(Blacksmith, Main square, Tavern, Black Lake, Snow Peak) and a DM topic, see the places Topics like General Chat. It was like a small scale Pen&Paper MMO. They had a main plot with events that ocurred on specified places, if your character was there he would be a part of it, otherwise you would only hear about it from others. Really well thought and fun, a bit slow paced compared to real P&P but a really pleasent experience.
That sounds fun. What ended up happening to it?
