Druid vs Paly. "oh no!" buttons

I have an 80 druid and an 80 paladin. The druid and paladin are both dual spec as feral tank/resto and prot/ret. The druid has better gear than the paladin but this is more a question about abilities.
I find the Paladin is a bit easier to hold threat in that I don't have to mash buttons constantly (like swipe) but I also find that the Paladin doesn't have anywhere near the "OH SH!T" buttons like a druid has.
Frenzied Regeneration (3 min CD), Barkskin (2 min CD), and Survival Instincts (3 min CD). But right now with the Paladin I've only found Lay on Hands (20 min CD) and that's it. If I bubble then I lose all threat (which is bad, of course) so I'm worried about trying to use Hand of Protection (which only works for melee damage anyway, so the magic bosses won't care).
Can I get some opinions and ideas on anything I might be missing?
Thanks!

You are definately missing

, 50% dmg reduction. Other than that you're pretty much spot on, guess pallies just have less oh crap buttons as a tank :P

thus the reason we are the least used tanks for encounters like sarth 3d, however we rarely need the o bugger buttons and if you do its likely already a wipe.

one thing when u bubble u dont loos threat it the mobs just run away from u untill ure bubble runs out wich u can make a nice macro for that. Allso there is a way to reduce all dmg by 100% by using ure bubble and taughnting(not shure if thats how u spell it) so we do have a bit more triks up our sleevs than ppl think but unlike druids it takes more skill to use

Because sarth+3 is a one tank fight, oh wait, we're far better at tanking drakes/adds than a druid + no risk of falling asleep tanking sarth.
Also paladins have one of the best o#$%^ things in game, Ardent Defender, a passive mini shieldwall whenever you're below 35% health, this has saved my life countless times.
And divine protection on a 2 min CD is good enough to have imo. There's so many other cooldowns that can be used to save a tank anyway (priest wings, hand of sacrifice, pain suppression, hunter pet sacrifice thing, ...)
Well I don't want to be relying on the healers to save me in a sense. I mainly run 5 mans and the odd 10 man here and there. In the 5 mans I only ever have 1 healer so I want to be able to save myself in a pinch.
Basically with my druid, if things start to go south then I pop Survival Instincts (I have just under 31k health unbuffed in bear) and I don't have the SI glyph, but it brings me to about 44k health. Then I might hit barskin for 20% reduced damage, possibly use Frenzied Regen (so I'm also being healed for 20% more due to the glyph). Not to mention that I can pop a healing potion if needs be (granted, any tank can do that).
I really want to give the paly tank a good try, but when I run into these situations where my health is getting retardedly low I go "crap! I wish I had my druid..." and I don't want to think that way.

~10k to max hp when you're dipping low vs 30k heal when you're dipping low, I know my choice.
I certainly do not wish to belittle the power/effect of Lay on Hands. Bringing yourself to full health is awesome. It's the fact that it's on a 20 min CD that causes me to think that you might get to use it 1-2 (maybe 3) times in a heroic run. Whereas abilities with a 2-3 min CD can be used much more frequently...

Fair enough.
I often forget that so many people still run heroics, however needing a CD every 2 pulls isn't normal either ;)
You make a good point. If the tank needs to use those CDs every 2 pulls then either the healer or tank aren't geared well enough for that scenario. I've been investigating Lay on hands and noticed that you can use a minor glyph to lower the CD by 5 mins, and there are talent points you can use that will lower it by an additional 4 mins (although you'd have to go down 10 points into Holy +2 points to improve Lay on Hands, and I don't know many tanks that put 12 points into Holy).

im my opinion lay on hands is the best o #$%^ button off all tanks
50% off doesnt do much at 3k hp, even last stand doesnt give more than to survive one hit
lay on hands however gets you back to full isntantly, fresh for another beating by the boss, hell it even restores mana

I definitely don't deny the sheer awesomeness of Lay on Hands. It was moreso that I felt that the CD was rather high. I guess it needs to have such a high CD because of how powerful it is. Seeing as how a minor glyph lowers the CD of the ability to 15 mins, it actually is pretty cool.
Thanks for the opinions everyone.
Does anyone know if Hand of Protection drops all threat like when you use Divine Shield of OPness? ;)

Hand of Protection drops threat to melee attackers, yes, but not casters.

Lay on Hands has saved my pally in cases when the healer had dropped on me, usually i am with a person who is willing to act as a off-healer so during that downtime between the switching of healers Lay on Hands will save you from otherwise certain death and a certain wipe. The 20 min CD is worth it since the healer only dies from very rare times when i had missed a mob or something else took place that led to the healer dying, like the healer standing in a poison gas cloud and didn't pay attention.
Other than that, O #$%^ buttons aren't used much by pallies, if the pally uses one then something had gone seriously wrong and would have happened anyways. I usually pop divine protection anytime because of the short CD and it takes stress off the healer. I always pop it on boss fights.

Dont forget that a paladin tank with Argent defender reduces all damage taken once he/she drops below 35% hp by 10-30% :)

Why druids need ohshiait buttons.
They're avoidance tanks which means they take spiky damage and RNG will make them take up to 90% damage in 4 seconds (less with parry gibbing).
Same reason to why frost DKs have 3-4(?) ohshiait buttons.
Why paladins dont.
Paladins are mitigation tanks even if we through RNG get an unlucky string of "non avoided attacks" we are still block capped and thus mitigate 5k(?) damage of the attacks that are not avoided.
But 3 ohshiait buttons vs 2 ohshiait buttons aint that much of a difference either. Sure one of ours is on a 20min CD but then it's not a ohshiait button...... It's an IWIN button.
