You have selected to compare two of the most complicated and most rewarding classes one can play in WoW. Each played well can perform outstandingly in every roll they can fill in both the PvP and PvE environments.
Let me start by saying that a Druid is my main and a Shaman is my alt. I don't agree with that statement.
Both classes are very rewarding to play but complicated? Druids are, Shamans are not.
Shamans are basically 3-button-wonders in any spec. Druid caster dps is ridiculously easy as well as the Shaman ranged dps (and generally all ranged dps since the Warlock rotation has been simplified). On melee the Druid rotation is extremely compicated while the Shaman is still very easy to play. For healing this doesn't change much: Druids use a ton of different heals and have to keep track of countless HoT cooldowns, Shamans have a much easier time healing (I find it quite relaxing to heal on my Shaman compared to the Druid).
That's not saying Shamans are bad because they aren't. They are an awesome class that brings tons of useful stuff to the raid and in a 5man I'd actually prefer to have a Shaman instead of a Druid simply because of the totems. But Shamans are just a lot easier to play then Druids.
In raids I'd like to have both. But if I had the choice between healer Druid + Shaman dps and healer Shaman + Druid dps then I'd go with the Druid as healer (mobility is key) and the Shaman as dps (Totem of Wrath wins).
While I'd prefer to have 1 Shaman instead of 1 Druid (or actually: any class, a group with a Shaman is always better then a group without a Shaman, no matter which class you are replacing as long as you still have a tank ;)) I'd rather have 2 Druids then 2 Shamans. One Shaman can already bring the most important totems and the 2nd one adds much less to the group, having multiple Druids (mobile healers, different buffs for moonkin/feral etc) is very nice.
