To make? No.
I like to cook, but I don't make anything other than basic dinner too often- time constraints, too tired after work (1 hour commute each way), etc.
When I was into it, though, I used to do a lot with chocolate. Making chocolate candies, using it to coat things, making cups, dishes, decorations, etc. out of chocolate.
I agree with MyTie's approach. Practice before you need it - my girlfriend always tries something special for the special occasion without having tried it before, and it always ends up being a mad stressful rush to get it working.
LOL- Skithus says I'm not allowed to bake anymore, because the only time he ever saw me get really upset was making those cake pops (this was like a year and a half ago, and I only brought them up again today because I saw photos of them online doing something else). In my defense, I was making them for when my sister got out of the hospital with her new baby, and she was going in for a C-section, so I was upset and worried anyway. I just ended up taking it out on the cake. And on him a bit, when he made fun of me when I was getting upset.
Moral of the story: if your girlfriend is really upset, making fun of her about it = not a great rest of the day for you :)

I can cook sweet things, but I don't really like sweet foods. If I do, I usually make things that I can eat with my coffee... stuff that is fairly plain or minty, and not too sweet. My butter cake is my usual suspect. I can make one of those in about 40 minutes with basic ingredients, including bake time.

I'm making a cake tomorrow for my wife's birthday actually. It'll be coffee and walnut cake. I've made it once before but she's a much better baker than me (I do savoury stuff) so I'm just hoping it can live up to her standards.
Got my recipe all sorted and going to pop to the shops shortly for all the ingredients.

My girlfriend has been using them a lot - it's a good way of making what would normally be quite a rich dessert into something light and puffy.
Of course, it's highly convenient that it uses the spare egg whites that we've been saving up after making many
pate a choux
, but you know, that's just an added bonus.

Sometimes, using force is necessary.
If you catch my drift.

Sigh...I tried to give you an out, Azazel, and you decided to jump in with both feet instead. There's only so much I can do before I sit back and just watch the disaster unfold.

Cats are very low maintenance for a pet that size. My cat and I happily ignore each other almost constantly then she puts on a good impression of a creature that doesn't wish death and misery upon me when she's hungry. It works rather well.
