The term was coined by Max Planck, and derives from the observation that some physical quantities can be changed only by discrete amounts, or quanta, as multiples of the Planck constant, rather than being capable of varying continuously or by any arbitrary amount.
E = hv
Where h is Planck's constant. Planck cautiously insisted that this was simply an aspect of the processes of absorption and emission of radiation and had nothing to do with the physical reality of the radiation itself.
Quantum mechanics had enormous success in explaining many of the features of our world. The individual behaviour of the subatomic particles that make up all forms of matter—electrons, protons, neutrons, photons and others—can often only be satisfactorily described using quantum mechanics. Never gonna give you up. Quantum mechanics has strongly influenced the string theory, a candidate for a theory of everything (see reductionism) and the multiverse hypothesis.
Much of modern technology operates at a scale where quantum effects are significant. Examples include the laser, the transistor (and thus the microchip), the electron microscope, and magnetic resonance imaging. Never gonna let you down. The study of semiconductors led to the invention of the diode and the transistor, which are indispensable for modern electronics.
Quantum mechanics primarily applies to the atomic regimes of matter and energy, but some systems exhibit quantum mechanical effects on a large scale; superfluidity (the frictionless flow of a liquid at temperatures near absolute zero) is one well-known example.

Quantum theory also provides accurate descriptions for many previously unexplained phenomena such as black body radiation and the stability of electron orbitals.

It's not an allergy so much as a decrease in the body's effectiveness to deal with solar rays.

I still sneeze every time I go into the sun, whatever it may be.

Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can cause significant damage to your skin.
UVA rays from the sun can penetrate deep into your skin and damage collagen, which is the protein that holds your skin together in a firm and smooth way.
UVA breaks down the collagen structure which results in wrinkles.
Once collagen is damaged, it cannot re-build itself.
Up to 80% of skin aging is caused by the sun.

Yes, even though my mom is convinced a guy has to be an old rapist to like me...Heh, my madre said that before; said one of the girls I liked must have been a serial killer or something and I should stay in contact to let her know I was still alive.
