"abortion is a right"
This is not what I'm saying. I'm saying the reasons for abortion are what you have a Right to. Just as you have a Right to ownership of Arms, you also have the Right to privacy, and that is why the legality of abortion cannot (or at least, cannot due to the current Supreme Court) be legislated on.
The right to bear arms is specifically outlined in the constitution. The right to privacy is not, and I don't think we have a right to privacy. There are proper laws governing 'searches and seizures', but that doesn't have to do with abortion.
I'm not quite sure how first to respond to this, so forgive me if I'm topically out of order.
I'm surprised that you don't think we have a right to privacy, when you think so many other things which would suggest to me that you would rather we be more independent and not less. You would give up your privacy? As for Constitutionally, the right to Privacy is indeed included, if you consider it as a necessity of "the pursuit of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness". I think if you sought opinion from the Founders, they would agree that Privacy is a necessary condition of Liberty.
As for search and seizure laws: While the Fourth Amendment says you may not be searched without proper suspicion/reason, I would (personally) interpret it (much more broadly) as "The Federal (and by the 14th, the State ) government may not interfere with your life, in as much as it might detriment you". Which is also why I alluded to the Fifth, earlier up. In fact, the Fifth says that you cannot be denied your private property (without due process), which I would also interpret broadly and in the same manner as the Fourth.
I think you and I agree, but are going about the arguement in different ways. I would work to overturn Roe vs Wade not because I disagree with the ruleing, but because it never should have been ruled on.
At some level, I think we do, in a way. At least, I see where you are coming from, if nothing else, and where you are coming from makes sense to me also.
But, I don't think it shouldn't have been ruled on. The Supreme Court (I would claim) had jurisdiction over the matter, as it did come down to the 14th Amendment and natural Rights.
I guess where I lead from here is that I wouldn't want any legislation ruling on it. If I had the choice to trust someone in a position of government, I would trust the Court system.
Still enough of a gulf of disagreement between us to barr you from voting for me?
I don't know of your other opinions, which could either widen or narrow said gulf. You make enough of a case however, to put you in that position.

No, it started to show that teaching Intelligent design in schools is stupid, since there is no scientific proof for that...
