Edit: I guess the mother could just have the birth and give it to adoption as opposed to "killing" the fetus.
Guessing you missed that edit.
I never take a full stand on any position, as I go back and forth a lot. I'm a terrible person to talk to about topics such as these.

But MyTie why are most abortions performed?
I dunno... shoot.
@Lusky - Interesting. I usually always take a firm stance on every issue. Not that I won't hear the other side, but with stuff like legalized abortion, I haven't ever heard a good arguement to counter me... ever.

You can't lump all mentally retarded people into one group. Most of the mentally retarded are only mildly retarded and can having varying levels of function in society.
Yeah, I know. I worked with them extensively for a year. Some very quick and smart individuals. I meant the ones that fit the description I listed. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

That can be applied to the other side as well.

That too... but, I can see what he means, though.. my look on the idea is essentialy a bit twisted, but it stands as retarded people are, generally, aware and living a life, where as a fetus is not.
But, again the mother could have birthed the child and given him to charity as opposed to killing him off. I'm not necessarily against the idea or for it, like I said before, but I don't think it's right for people to tell the person getting an abortion they're in the wrong for doing so. Because in one person's moral code/standing, it's wrong, where as, obviously, the person choosing to get an abortions, it's alright.
Edit: Gah, okay.. again, said that fetuses aren't aware.. my bad.. they may or may not be..

To Mytie: most abortions are from rape. The people have been raped and if you live on the street and have been abandoned and pregnant an abortion is the way out. This is because people while at first may think that I'll give them up for adoption when it comes time they don't. It is a hard choice but I am pretty sure that there is a good reason behind the majority of abortions.
The majority of pro-abortion arguements come from misinformation. A quick
google search
would have told you that less than 1% of abortions are attributed to 'rape'. The largest statistical factor is 'how the baby will affect my life'.

Off-topic in a way, but this popped into my head a sec ago and head to look it up.
It's one of my favorite quotes from a movie, it's from 'The Mist', based off the Stephen King novel, I'm not sure if he says it in the book, but..
As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up ways to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion?

Hmmm I do seem to be terribly misinformed I need to change my news sources. Although I will have to say that apparently rape victims are unwilling to say they have been raped so then numbers probably are a bit higher. Tanks.
Admittantly statistics are not fact. But, I do encourage you to independantly research this and come back and re-engage me in debate.
