DPS meter channel restriction.

I don't know about you... But I do hate seeing DPS meter fights every single group or raid I get in. Sure DPS Meter is useful, But I don't care about it. I have it, I use it and I sure don't need to see 8 versions of DPS meter spam every 45 seconds. DPS Meter should, in my honest opinion, be restricted via code to a channel and NOT be able to use /party, /say or /raid. I'd push it farther and say: Only allow it to a dpsmeter channel and whispers. If you have a dps meter, they should have an option to make you join that channel by default (or not).
Not to flame the mod, it's great... but I don't need to see 10 meters in chat when 23/25 have it.

Yeah let them know when your in a group that if anyone asks for meters they can link them otherwise imediate kick from the raid. I do it got a lot of angry whispers from kicked people to but oh so clean chat is nice/

It's a forum, and giving my point of view is one thing I can do. I don't want the server on my back since every-freaking-one does it. Just giving the idea. Now that 3.3 is live, kicking people out for no "relevant" reason should not be a great deal.
@NeoBlackheart I do it when someone just abuse the report button (report dps meter, not the "Reported!") but I never feel too good about it especially when some are guildies.

It's funny how certain culture develops on different realms. On mine, everyone uses wow-heroes gear scores, where on others, the standard is to use the Addons' numbers.
I say this, because on Kilrogg, I never see anyone posting Recount reports unless it is requested by someone in the raid.
Maybe people on Kilrogg are just smarter, and have managed to figure out how to install Recount on their own system so they don't have to beg to see the numbers, or perhaps we're simply not as vein, and don't feel a need to shove our DPS in others' faces... but probably neither of those =D

So because you don't want to have people not like you I'm not going to be allowed to link meters to my guild? Yeah that makes sense.
Oh come on. Just said that I kicked players that ABUSE the feature. and sure if someone in my guild abuse it, I may just turn my back on him, then move along.
Is this about how annoying it is, or it it really about how you hate meters because you're never at the top?
My personal rule is to never be the one to link them if you're at the top. That's called "tooting your own horn", I think it is okay to tell someone to stop spamming if all he/she is doing is bragging.
I just don't care not being on the top. if the group goes well, I just close my dps meter window. I never felt the "need" to be on top of any dps meter but it's sure satisfying, somehow. The only point here is that it easily becomes irritating - no matter if you're the first name appearing or not.

In our guild, we have a WBCMetric channel that people can join, and any Recount information is posted to that channel. Now that we are farming content it doesn't see much use, but during Progression we would post things like Damage Done to Snobolds, or Damage Done to Nether Portal. It was pretty rare to see just a general "Damage Done for Last Fight" posted, because that information is pretty pointless.
In heroics, it's pretty rare to see damage meters posted. Every once in a while you'll get someone posting meters, and I do when there's a point to it, but it's not like I see them after every trash pull, or even necessarily after every boss. I did post an Overall after a run yesterday because all four of the DPS/Tank were within ~20k damage of each other and I thought it was interesting.
My general opinion is that if you want to see damage meters, go download Recount and run it.

That would be perfect... but add the ones that like to post it for no reason... ugh. I may jsut start to filter them out.

Or perhaps they are just so dumb that they dont even know whats a DPS meter, considering the IQ of the puggers...=)

I don't like it when people spam that in raids, especially pugs. I am OK with the leader posting the damage done info once after we're all done with loot and what not for those who are interested. As for me, I normally am more interested in the bottom of the damage done list, just above tanks: it shows me which dpsers are really not up to par and should work on their skills/gear before getting invited again. Who gets first or second or whatever is rarely interesting to me even if I am the one topping it (hey, it happens sometimes even to shadow priests, stop laughing).

Try
SpamageMeters
, it will condense Recount output to a single line.

Where the hell has this been for my entire raiding career? >_<

My last two guilds have done the same thing.
Also, that addon is neat.
