it's funny, cause i look at the recount breakdown and subtract the damage from fan of knives, and half of the poison damage, and i'm still on top. i'd rather be 3% above everybody instead of 1%.
ur not 3% above tho. ur actually 1% even if recount says 3%

Not reading whole thread..
To answer your question, yes, Mut sucks on moving/target-switching boss-encounters.
Combat does not suffer from moving/target-switching, also with KS which lets the rogue reaching the mob faster than the rogue doesn't have KS.
A flawed advice on DPS.. when everyone is attacking the charged add, you may just FoK :/
Yes, it makes your DPS look much better, but, this is not good.
(and maybe that combat rogue is FoK'n as well.. lol)

ITT: we pad meters for e-peen points.

If you really come to raids simply to pad meters, then stay near the adds and FoK them. Sure, you might not be awarded loot due to that, but you can always reply with
Hey guys I know I can beat you on dps but just for the fun of it Im going to do damage that doesnt help the raid in any way so I do more dps than all of u lol im so kewl

Make sure you have Rupture and Deadly Poison ticking before you run over to the add. Spam Mutilate and Envenom on the add. Use Cloak of Shadows when he uses Lightning Nova to avoid dps loss. Nothing else I can say really.

My Cousin Vinny ftwYou deserve a cookie and my 5 gold ;)
I do not know why they have allowed this, just that if you vanish you do not take any damage. I did VoA 25 yesterday and 10 today and used vanish and took ZERO, damage. I will say it again, ZERO damage
I am 101% positive about the vanishes. That's really interesting. It never once occured to me to try vanishing during this encounter since every other AoE brings a rogue out of stealth
by doing damage
. Can anyone else confirm this? Maybe I'll give it a try next time (if we've got the kill in the bag).
Yes this is confirmed. By using vanish on the lightning nova (preferably 1-3 seconds before the cast), you somehow either avoid or resist the damage caused by the spell. I have no idea why Blizzard implemented this, but I guess it's even more of an advantage for us rogues.
Also on the actual topic of this post, yes the mutilate/HfB spec will definitely lose more DPS than the combat spec. The only probable reason for this is due to the fact that the mutilate spec takes much more longer to reach the peak of your DPS on a single target than the combat. I personally have seen rogues in my guild still accomplish 6k-7k DPS with the mut spec on Emalon with the proper gear and rotations. Although i would advise you to grab combat swords or combat fists/daggers as it is a much more easier rotation and currently has the most DPS output for rogues in WoW, the mut spec can keep up with the combat spec if you do everything correctly.
Don't worry about your DPS Shadowfoot, I'm sure you'll have 6k DPS on emalon in no time =)
