Her group buff gives you ap, yours increases her magic damage..which, as blood, isnt much. As far as two different dk specs "meshing" frost and unholy or blood and frost would benefit each other best.
And yes, blood has a LOT more inherent survivability. Although, as unholy, your death strike heals you for more, since ep counts as a third disease, giving you a nice 15% heal rather than the usual 10%.

First of all, for leveling Blood is pretty much
the
survival spec for leveling, because the mobs hit to low for Frost to compare to pure healing.
Second of all, now that Unholy has lost almost all of it's AOE power, it's going to be pretty much as you describe in leveling more than one person, because the mobs will die way too fast for a damage-over-time based spec to actually be effective, seen as its DoTs will be taken off halfway when it dies.

I was in a three-way race to First DK to 80 on my server until I took a nap and gave up. ;)
I level'd as frost.
All three trees are fine for leveling. All three flavors have access to Death Strike. You shouldnt have downtime to speak of regardless of your spec.
Having said that, go with what's fun. It's a game. Enjoy the ride.

You're both level 60, it's alright. Both specs will really come into their own later. Blood does have more inherent survivability, but there's nothing wrong with any of the 3 specs to level. And since neither of you is soloing, it's not a big deal if you have a bit less survivability, you've got eachother's back!
Do what's fun. Though I am Blood (level 77 atm) my first priority was On a Pale Horse in the Unholy tree, so I picked up Heart Strike a little late. It really didn't slow me down and I never regretted the choice to take Pale Horse before Heart Strike. If Unholy is fun for you, go Unholy. If you want to try some of what she's having, don't be shy ;)
