I'm 54 and my current spec is 0/41/0 I'm combat(sword spec) for leveling and I have 4 points and I don't know where to spend them. Someone gave me a link to what my tree should look like when I'm all done but I cant find it, or if anyone can give me tips on where to spend my points. Thanks

The theory stands as this tho: combat to level, subtlety for pvp and assassination for pve.
It's not as simple as pigeon holing each tree to a particular purpose. All three trees can be used in any number of builds for any number of purposes. Even in general, the theory you stated isn't accurate. The most optimal PVE specs have far more points in the combat tree than the assassination tree:

Overall, yes remx is probably correct about pve specs, but assassination has more damage boosting talents than combat.
No, it doesn't. Combat offers improved sinister strike, improved slice and dice, precision, a weapon spec, weapon expertise, aggression, adrenaline rush, vitality, combat potency and surprise attacks. The reason why the most optimal PVE specs have a whole load of points dumped in combat is because the combat tree's talents add more net DPS than those in both subtlety and assassination. Even PVE mutilate, the only PVE spec which goes heavily into the assassination tree, puts the rest of its points into the combat tree.
Please, instead of trying to extrapolate on your current views, consider why you should alter them.

The only dagger build which currently offers decent performance in both PVE and PVP is mutilate.
For the purposed you mentioned, I suggest
