I have played 3 classes in high-end PVP ( hunter, shaman and warrior ) and by far, I think the warrior is the funiest.
It is true that a lone warrior must pass trough hard periods in PvP, like when he just ding 70 and he need gear to perform well. But, give him an epic weapon and the fun can begin. Give him a complete gear and a healing support and...I just can't explain how fun this is.
Generally, there's 2 kind of gameplay in PvP: offensive and defensive. When you are supported, play offensive: charge, WW, MS, sweeping strikes, rinse and repeat. Not very hard to master.
But, you are alone, you must play Defensive and it is where we can make the difference between an average warrior and a good warrior. Each opposite class must been studied a bit and you must know how to counter there strenghts. For example: a bear druid and his massive amounts of armor can be a problem. Give him a few Sunder Armor and he will be a lot more tender.
Some peoples say the warrior gameplay is simply Charge-MS-WS-Execute but you dont win arenas with that.
It is not really a good idea to PvP at a lower level since you will have no fun at all. Your damage will be low and you will be slaughtered by any 70s. Others classes, like ranged or healers can go to Alterac at a lower level and stay away from danger but the warrior can't. Hit 70, get a few blues ( a blue weapon is a must have ) and then, start PvP.
As for a PvP perspective, I don't think it's a good idea to level BS. Since it's an alt, you will probably not raid with your warrior ( Maybe even heroics are not in your plan ). If you must stay at the 1st or 2nd stage of your BS weapon, skip that profession and go for Glad weapons.

1. BS is even more worthless if you dont plan to craft the epic weapons. You'll waste money to get 2-3weapons to will last you 5 levels each max. Run instances. Get blue weapons. Save money.
2. It is a very good idea to do PvP at those levels because you will learn how to play your warrior step by step and you will have the opportunity to get some blues. But during my leveling, I did BGs at each of those brackets and got only 5k honor, wich I can get in 2 days ( not PvP focused ) at level 70.
The Arms tree is ,by far, the best PvP tree . You use it with a big 2 hand. It is very good to level by only when you'll hit level 40. Level 1-40 fury then go Arms till 70.

I strongly disagree with Kramp on using Fury to level from 1-40. Having no instant attacks & even then not having enough talent points to pick up such mainstays as Precision can make for a very frustrating experience. I strongly recommend staying Arms with a 2-handed weapon until at least 40 for sake of simplicity on your first warrior character. Once you hit 40 and get Mortal Strike, you probably won't even want to stop there.
As far as pvping at low level, =/ this can be a blessing & a curse. You will
not
get very much honor at all, however you will learn a lot about fighting battles early on. It can give you time to "take it all in" and learn ways to counter certain techniques in PVP before they expand & mix with other abilities at higher levels (increasing your learning curve).
As far as blacksmithing goes for leveling up...it's almost useless. You will spend more time walking on foot trying to level blacksmithing than you will actually leveling. The best idea is to gather the ore (i.e. copper, tin, etc.) while you level and save it in your bank until level 40+. This way you have a mount to continue gathering ore, etc. for the future & you can craft all the lower level blacksmithing items at once (since you saved the materials in your bank) without running around.
The problem is, you want to "gear up" using blacksmithing while leveling...you typically have to level your professions' skill higher than your own level so if you go this route your gear (from blacksmithing) will always be 2-5 levels below your experience level. Also, you'll be gathering even more materials to create the item you wanted.

Ragnus, many weapons crafted by BS are BoE. Take gathering professions, make money with it and use that gold to buy mats for those weapons ( a 375 will craft them ) or just buy world-drop BoE weapons.
To Arideni: Arms 1-39 does'nt have an instant attack and fury 1-39 gives more interestings leveling talents like Improved Slam and Sweeping Strikes.

I'm pretty sure Improved Slam isn't going to break any records...especially since you don't get that or Sweeping Strikes until 30, =/
