The hardest part of lvling a pala is putting up with the first 40 or so levels when u have 1 attack... after that it gewts much better tbh.
Im very happy that i stuck to my pala coz im having so much fun on him atm.

I've been looking for an alt to level, so I started up a pally. Now, I've levelled several classes up to around lvl 18, and by that time I feel as though I've got a decent idea of the very basics of the class. But leveling this pally has been utterly mind numbing. JUDGEMENT....cooldown....JUDGEMENT....coodown... etc. etc.
So does it get any better? Are pallies just slow to develop, or is the gameplay of the class pretty much "spam an attack, wait for the cooldown?" I really like the idea of a Paladin, but so far the gameplay is just horrible....
If you didn't reached the, at least, level 40 (the Plate proficiency), what the hell you're talking about, dear? You haven't even played the class as it is, at all.

Yes, but at least other classes involve button mashing, rather than auto-attacking and waiting for abilities to come off CD.
I generally do something else while levelling my low level paladin alt. L32, and still grinding happily away. Just target a mob, judgement, auto-attack, and go off and do some homework, read webcomics, look up pr0n or something. I won't be able to find it at work, but I'm sure someone can link the obligatory forum post about the benefits of Paladins...

Note Paladins have Exorcism (it does have a cast time, but still usable to pull mobs) and the Hand of Reckoning taunt does some damage as well.

QFT.
I just recently leveled a paladin from 10-70 in the space of a couple weeks. Very boring until you get Crusader Strike. VERY. However, once you hit 50, everything beyond is much MUCH more fun. I've enjoyed leveling my paladin from this point onward more than any other class. I never enjoyed plaguelands on any of the other 3 80's i have until i ran through them with a paladin.
10-49 Taunt a mob to pull it to you, judge, exorcism when/if it runs away(or you get an Art of War Proc) or taunt again. Rinse repeat. Add Hammer of Wrath at 44 as your mob finisher.

Wearing plate doesn't make playing the character any more interesting, so I'd say level 40 is an entirely irrelevant level for this discussion.
It does when you can pull twice as many mobs.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned healing as a pally! It's a lot of fun and much more interesting than ret. Keeping your group up as well as the tank gefore getting Beacon of Light is rough though. I leveled prot up to Outland and ret through WotLK. I tried healing soon after reaching 80 and it's been my main spec ever since.

AnrDaemon makes a good point, you gotta give it more than 18 levels, before giving up on any class, especially Paladins.
