No. Your Defense and Weapon skill are always considered at max when braining another player, so no point. Your Def will go up eventually.
Source?
As far as I'm aware, Def skill influences the chance of miss/dodge/parry/block (not relevant for Warlock). If you have excess Def skill (eg, a PvE tank), you'll still gain the benefits of the increased avoidance. I didn't think it'd be any different if you had less than max def skill for your level.

As a Priest I take (and usually survive) a beating in arena. While obviously my avoidance is very low, even a single missed hit out of twenty has the potential to give me the edge. If that means I have to spend a day getting beat on by mobs then so be it, it is passive and can only help.
@OP: I'm not sure if Kaz is right or not, but if it turns out he isn't, which I think is quite possible, then just test it out. Find you a low level mob (fast hitting preferably) and see how high your defense skill climbs. Worst case scenario you may have to take some beatings from mobs near your level for awhile, I honestly do not know if level matters but it is easily testable.

No, it is still this.
So how does defense rating impact it then? If you're under max defense skill, but you have defense rating that takes you above, are you assumed to have the defense skill you have, or (max skill) + (defense skill from def rating)?

I meant that Parry/Block wasn't relevant for a warlock, not miss/dodge. Sorry for confusing things.
