For example, if I type:
/Cast Heroic Strike, instead of /Cast Heroic Strike (Rank 3) (which never works with me), will the Macro always use the third and highest Spell Rank?

/cast Heroic Strike will cast the highest rank Heroic Strike, whereas /cast Heroic Strike (Rank 3) will cast Rank 3.

Ok thanks, that's what I wanted to know. (I used Rank 3 because its my currently highest rank)

(which never works with me)There should be no interval between the spell name and the rank parenthesis. Otherwise the parser mistakes it as part of the spell name and tries to cast "Heroic Strike " (and such) instead of the actual spell.

The only time you NEED the rank parentheses is for Faerie Fire (Feral), which MUST be listed as Faerie Fire (Feral)() - because otherwise the macro parser will try to interpret (Feral) as a spell rank.

Funnily enough, it doesn't have a problem with Mangle (Bear) and Mangle (Cat).

Maybe because they're both shapeshift abilities. Faerie Fire (Feral) has a non-shapeshift version, which may be what's causing the parser to get confused.
