Do you recall the way your DPS scaled?

The whole before/after 1900 spellpower is a myth. CL is always better damage (and no missile!). It is, however, a mana hog.

Frankly, I wouldn't worry about DPS until 80 when you have max rank of everything and you start getting geared.

it isnt a myth. LB spelldmg scaling is higher than CL... and atm after 1900 spelldmg LB scaling has caught up to CL and it will do more dmg on single targets

The math doesn't support your claim, so it is a myth.

heh, well i guess im using the rotation for before 1900 im a 1753 unbuffed...yeh i know...i suck..
Checked your armory: Your overcapped on hit. You only need 11% hit caus 3% from talents and 3% from druid/priest
For red sockets use Runed gems for yellow you can use + crit/spelldmg gems but only if the bonus is spelldmg or crit.Nvr gem with mp5, its better to take spelldmg/sta gems over ******/mp5 gems.
I was told by alot of people that i needed 17%, I guess i need to go back and look at the gems i got then, thanks for the advice. Though im going to try and keep @ least 2 blue gems so i can keep the meta going, its a big help.

Chain Lightning
Base: 973 to 1111
Coefficient: 57% of Spellpower
Lightning Bolt
Base: 715 to 815
Coefficient: 81,43% of Spellpower (with Shamanism)
Coefficient difference
is 81,43 - 57 =
24,43%
Base damage average difference is 277
If 24,43% of your spellpower is exactly 277, the two spells will deal equal damage on average.
In that particular case you're sporting 1134 spellpower.
So, if you have more than 1134 spellpower, your average Lightning Bolt will deal more damage than Chain Lightning.
Of course, CL has a 25% shorter cast time, so it's still worth casting in rotations if it deals at least 75% of Lightning Bolt damage. Over 3k spellpower, however, it's not the case anymore.
This is the sort of arguement that would support casting shadowbolt because "it's only a 2.5 second cast and can crit for over 10k!" while never casting corruption since it takes "3 seconds for each tick and only ticks for 3000".
Cast time is pretty important and needs to be included in your base calcs. Lightning Mastery gives a much bigger boost to Chain Lightning since it receives a larger (percentagewise) cast-time reduction.
The way you set up your equations, you're not comparing Chain Lightning and Lightning Bolt. You are comparing casting Lightning Bolt vs Casting Chain Lighting + Standing around for 0.5 seconds.
